Grease/ fat stain on denim-how to remove?

Workingmytickettoparadise · 27/02/2024 08:12

I have washed my jeans but the fat/ grease mark is still there. Is there any inexpensive solutions to getting it out? Thanks

Spray some elbow grease on, leave it for half an hour then put through the wash :)

W0tnow · 27/02/2024 08:35

I put a blob of dishwashing detergent on it and rub it in, leave for a few minutes before washing as normal.

Fairy liquid, leave to soak for 30 mins then give it a rub with a wet cloth or scrubbing brush and stick them through the wash

ThePoshUns · 27/02/2024 08:39

Second fairy liquid

suki1964 · 27/02/2024 10:27

Any degreaser, fairy is as good as any

Yewtown · 27/02/2024 10:33

Blob of fairy liquid, leave for 2 minutes then run finger nail on the stain from the back of the fabric. Don't rub the stain directly as you can get patches if the denim is dark. Works a treat

Second the elbow grease spray. Also works well on collars, curry stains, as breaks up the grease that holds the stain / mark to the fabric.

Having tried all of the above and it still being there I tried dry shampoo as a last ditch attempt I saw online. Bloody worked, it was a miracle!

that's a new one, wow

I was a little scared to try it (on a new jumper of all things) but having done everything else and it still being there had nothing to lose. So happy 🤣

Another vote for Elbow Grease spray, the yellow one with the obnoxious chemical smell. Has worked where everything else has failed for me.

tobee · 27/02/2024 19:05

Bicarbonate and water paste left for a bit is quite good but messy. Fairy liquid easier.

Merryoldgoat · 27/02/2024 19:25

I’ve not yet had a grease spot not eliminated with fairy liquid.

I squirt it in, scrub in with a toothbrush and let it sit for a while then wash again.

I have a husband incapable of not getting grease down his front 🤨

Sgtmajormummy · 28/02/2024 06:47

If you don’t have dry shampoo try talcum powder.
First the stain absorbs it, then it absorbs the stain.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 28/02/2024 19:26

I’m trying the washing up liquid now!

Dampen the stain, put washing up liquid on and rub from the back. Then make a paste of vanish powder for colours and a bit of water, rub that in too, leave for 5 mins then wash with bio detergent and vanish powder.

Propertylover · 28/02/2024 19:45

Talc it absorbs the grease then you wash the talc out.

Solonomi · 28/02/2024 21:42

Spray with dry shampoo & leave for a bit then wash again. It really works!

sunglassesonthetable · 28/02/2024 22:54

Fairy Washing up liquid always works for me. I apply neat to any stain and let it sit before washing. Good luck.
