Help with a shrug/cover up for this dress

Sadly I am not as slim as the model in the
photo and will be wearing this as a bridesmaid dress in May. I have tried and tried and cannot find something to cover my shoulders that is the right colour (that’s not just essentially a piece of fabric that would have to be held or tied). Can anyone please help as I am already dreading showing so much flesh on top due to my size 😔(18)

Light In The Box, have a chiffon shrug that comes in several greens (infact 61 colours). Have you googled chiffon shrugs? There are loads.

Maybe something like this faux fur shrug?
Or sequins?something like this?
I can see colour is going to be a problem.
Hoper your Vinted plan works, it's probably the best option if you can sew or can find someone who does.

I've ordered the dress from Vinted as for £25 in the exact shade it’s worth a shot. My friend is a genius at sewing and although normally does interior design is going to make me something from the material. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

OP your friend can just make you what is effectively a long chiffon pashmina, then you tie it in a nice drapey knot at the back so that you don't have to hold on to it all day. Kind of fits like sleeves, but not as granny-ish or as noticeable. Just don't tie too tight!

Would you be more comfortable in this Monsoon dress in the same colour? Would the bride agree for you to swap to it?

Or have a look for something like the other two, the mohair wrap looks a good colour but the seam looks ugly the way the have styled it - I assume it's a tube and so that seam could be placed at the back in which case it would look a million times better

I think this would work if you can find some matching chiffon from somewhere like this.

John Lewis has this dress with a bigger model wearing it. It looks lovely. I don’t think you need to be size 8 to wear something like this.

I am the same size as you and not a dress style I would feel happy in either. But the photo may be misleading, some other websites have similar style dresses with photos in our size and the ladies look beautiful. I tend to only buy clothes from sites where the models are my size. Hope you can feel beautiful and relaxed and enjoy the day.

Could you use some of the vented dress fabric to make a cape,- similar style to this from quizhttps://www.quizclothing.co.uk/en-GB/navy-navy-pearl-cape-p-177362

Post a photo OP I’m excited for you and what a great idea re Vinted

Regardless of size, all of you could be flipping freezing in May in a sleeveless dress. Can you not take that approach and discuss as a group what (not if) you’ll buy to coordinate cover ups.

Apart from being sleeveless- which is a big area of concern for many women - that dress could look lovely on a plus size as evidenced above. Also if you’re willing and able a few months with some hand weights could give you some tone and additional confidence re your upper arms.
