Painting nails with normal polish

Do people still use normal polish as opposed to gel nails or biab? I really struggle getting a nice smooth finish when I paint my nails, anyone have any tips or recommendations on which polish to use?

I use normal polish then a UV gel and put under UV light for a couple of minutes to cure so it lasts much longer

Or just normal nail polish with no gel coat such as Rimmel 60 seconds

It just depends how I feel

I'm back on acrylics for my fingers but I used to paint mine once or twice a week.
I rate Sally Hanson polishes. I bulk bought a load of colours from ebay for around £30.
I use This top coat It's very watery but dries really quickly.
Waiting for nails to dry is the worst, it's always when you need the loo or a brew.

Another vote for the Sally Hansen insta-dri topcoat. It touch-dries quickly but be warned takes a while to fully dry - main reason I use it is because it is the best top coat for preventing chipping/tipwear. Do a fairly thick coat right up to the edges of the cuticles and it seals the base coat/polish in nicely.

I use mainly Essie and Rimmel nail polishes. Two of my fave tips for keeping polished nails looking good: 1) regularly moisturise your hands and cuticles, and 2) use gloves when doing the washing up/cleaning!

I do mine. Gels and long nails aren't for me and also mine grow too quickly to get the money's worth. Sally Hanson top coat is great. I usually do them on a Sunday and get through to Friday. If they chip I just go over it.

I do as well, usually twice a week. Base coat (currently Nails Inc), two layers of colour and Sally Hansen insta-dri top coat. Most of my current favourite polishes are Rimmel, Essie and Barry M.

A good top coat - I also like InstaDri.

But to get a really good finish, my tip is two coats of a ridge filling basecoat to start with.

The other thing is to do your nails when you're not planning anything other than scrolling MN or watching TV, and let each coat (base, colour, top) dry thoroughly. Don't do one after the other after the other. That makes a terrific difference to how long they last.
