How do I close this hole on my face?

T0AST · 20/02/2024 06:43

I had a persistent black head, just one, on my face. After about two years I have finally got it to go and not come back but I am left with a hole. The rest of my skin is very clear which makes it stand out even more. Any ideas how to close the pore?

Anyone?

I thought cold closes pores. So washing with cool water? Otherwise Clinique used to do a product called (ironically) minimiser - which was exactly that. Used to shrink pores? Not sure if it’s still available or discontinued as they do tend to do that with a lot of products.

Girlintheframe · 20/02/2024 07:16

You can't actually close pores but you can minimize the appearance using products like the benefit porefessional primer

T0AST · 20/02/2024 07:18

Oh really? It looks just as bad as the black head! I don't wear make up so I guess I'll just have to live with it

I don't think you can close pores but you can minimise the look of them by keeping them clean and unblocked

Try a cleanser or toner with Salicylic Acid

CormorantStrikesBack · 20/02/2024 07:20

I think sometimes it can be like the little craters left behind after chicken pox. Dd has one from 20 years ago, it’s never closed

PurBal · 20/02/2024 07:20

If your skin is otherwise clear I’m sure it’s not that bad. I think my skin looks pretty awful but I always get complimented even when not wearing makeup. I agree you can’t close pores.

Grimchmas · 20/02/2024 07:21

Another vote for clinique pore minimiser, if it still exists.

If not, I'd suggest using a toner that tightens and making sure you keep it clear. I had/ have a few like that, and they have eventually gotten smaller - but took time. I presume the elasticity in that pore goes when it is blocked for a while.

You could see a dermatologist who would cut out a tiny piece of skin and close it, so when it heals the pore would be gone. I don’t think there’s a solution other than surgery though.

Netaporter · 20/02/2024 07:25

@T0AST try Paula’s Choice AHA liquid. Supposed to be good at pore reduction. I’d also recommend joining the ‘Caroline Hirons Skincare freaks’ group on FB and ask the question there. It is a very helpful community for skincare issues such as this.

Hope you get it sorted.

I just saw a video last night about pore removal. Until then I had no clue this was even a thing.

If its a large hole that hasn't closed after clearing then you need to see a specialist. It wont disappear on its own, its like a scar.

Allshallbewell2021 · 20/02/2024 07:37

It's worth trying honey, just a tiny amount, under a plaster for a number of days. Honey can be an amazing topical natural healer and it may reduce the appearance of the scar.

But also a high end beautician might advise options and I'm sure there are surgical solutions.

ChilliPB · 20/02/2024 08:24

Microneedling can be good for small scars and enlarged pores.

JustWoww · 20/02/2024 08:57

I would get dermabrasion from a beauty therapist something like crystal clear. Resurfaces the skin so new cells grow - it’s not that deep that you need time off you often have a series of six sessions - just ask them to do extra deep on the pore

DRS1970 · 20/02/2024 09:17

It sounds like a dilated pore of winer to me. You generally can't get those to close without some sort of medical procedure.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 20/02/2024 09:19

Does dermabrasion really get rid of open pores? If so I want some! Has anyone got rid of some by doing this?

Thelightis · 20/02/2024 09:34

It must close up like a scar maybe

I had a hole where my nose ring was after I took it out but it didn't bother me. I can barely see it now

I think you just get used to it. No one else notices these things really as much as we do on ourselves

Thelightis · 20/02/2024 09:36

You could try an acid like REN aha.

It makes your skin lovely and smooth so worth a try and your skin will look great and younger and hopefully work on that area quickly

Porfirio · 20/02/2024 10:44

It will fill up again.

After an extraction I use Rugby acne gel 10% which is Benzoyl peroxide and then a Niamicide serum.

I do a weekly peel from Sr Skincare

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 20/02/2024 10:47

You can't. You would need to use some sort of dermatological procedure like injectable filler (a tiny amount to fill the indent) or the grafting procedure described previously.

EndoEnd · 20/02/2024 10:51

Niacinamide

Prelapsarianhag · 20/02/2024 10:54

I used to use a product that called itself Pore Refining Solution - it kinda worked.

JaneJeffer · 20/02/2024 11:34

NYX pore filler stick is good

OooScotland · 20/02/2024 23:38

Its an icepick scar, not an open pore. The blackhead caused tissue loss that your skin can’t replace.

I think someone else might have said this, but a dermatologist can do a minor surgical procedure to give you a scar that will heal nicely. I’m not aware of anything topical or otc that can do anything, but I’m not an expert, just a fairly clued up beauty hobbyist!
