If you use tret, what does the rest of your routine look like?

I've been using tret (Dermatica) since October, now on 0.05%, and am overall pleased with the results. My skin has been really sensitive though so I've just used very basic E45 type moisturisers while I got used to it.

I feel like I'm coming out of that now so want to start a proper routine but have no idea what products I should be using to compliment the tret (and more importantly not cancel it out!).

Would anyone be happy to share what they use morning and night?

Im same as you, Dermatica 0.05% tret with niacinamide at night, covered with Nivea cream (in the blue tin).

Morning - Body Shop edelweiss peeling solution (although I expect that won't be around for much longer so I'll have to find an alternative), wash with sensitive bar soap, then Bobbi Brown Remedies clarifying serum under my primer.

Nothing except Olay moisturiser and sunscreen. That's why I use Tret, so I don't have to use anything else.

Morning
Vit C- high strength geek and gorgeous
Moisturiser- any tinted
SPF 50

Night
Tret
Eye cream
Moisturiser after 10 mins

Been doing this for several years now

NewYearTimeToChange · 18/02/2024 09:42

Dermatica tret, azaeic acid & Niacinimide treatment after cleansing with Dermatica squalene cleanser. I leave it a few minutes then add their hylauronuc acid serum and when that’s sunk in a bit cover with their peptide moisturiser.

in the morning I just wash with water and apply SPF50. Am 54 and my skin is looking better than it has for a long time. I like to keep it as simple as possible as I’ve only had a routine as such since using Dermatica. Prior to this I was a soap and water girl and never used moisturiser or sunscreen.

Michiamo · 18/02/2024 09:45

Like @NewYearTimeToChange I also keep it simple

I’m using Dermatica Tret and even though I’ve been using it long term I still need the most basic of moisturisers after use at most things sting!

So in the morning…. Wash with soap/cleanser then SPF 50.

Evening- Cleanse/remove make up and then Tret followed by E45/Cetreban
I have got a Dermatica serum that I use alongside sometimes.

TheOGCCL · 18/02/2024 09:52

AM
Cerave hydrating cleanser
Hado Labo hyaluronic acid
Cerave PM moisturiser
Eucerin oil control SPF 50
Bobbi Brown eye base

PM
Cerave foaming oil cleanser
Dermatica
Cerave PM moisturiser
Superdrug Vit Eye cream

I sometimes use 0.1 but currently on 0.05 (plus clindamycin and niacinamide) for the winter.

I use a couple of masks regularly too, a Vit C one, and a No7 moisturising one (especially after swimming)

Thanks everyone, that's really helpful, sounds like simple is the way to go after all. Just seems so weird after spending a fortune on various lotions and potions over the years, but I can't deny my skin is looking great on it.

The only thing anyone needs is

AM
Cleanser
Vitamin C
SPF 50
Moisturizer if needed.

PM
Cleanser
Retinoid
Moisturizer

Don't ever spend on cleanser or moisturizer. One goes down the plughole and one has just that one job to do.

Spend on the serums.

SchittOnIt · 18/02/2024 18:27

I’ve been through a bit of a journey with tret and have had quite a few problems with retinol burn and flaking - so it’s taken me ages to find a routine that works, but think I’m getting there.

AM

skin&me vit c firming serum
CereVe moisturising lotion with a drop of glycerin in it
La Roche-Posay Anthelios Oil Control spf 50

PM

CereVe cleanser
Vaseline around the bits where I tend to flake
CereVe moisturising lotion
Tret (skin&me)
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 baume with a drop of glycerin in it

The Cicaplast baume is amazing, especially if your skin barrier is a bit compromised (which the stinging would suggest). Adding moisturiser before the tret and then leaving a gap before putting the tret on has really helped. The glycerin helps with preventing flaking, although it sounds like you’ve managed to avoid this anyway!

Currently not doing my normal routine due to surgery but normally I use one of those soft facial cloths for first thing in the morning followed by this works serum and Nivea day cream . When I go out I use soltan factor 50 sunscreen.

Evening same cloth to wash, then tret followed by Nivea night cream. I have facial oils which I use when needed

Lookingoutside · 18/02/2024 22:28

Morning

Face wash from Beauty Pie
Boots rose water and glycerin
Skin&Me Sunscreen

Evening

Micellar water and cotton wool
Cream Cleanser with warm flannel
Boots rose water and glycerin
Skin&Me Tret
Cerave moisturiser

Sometimes followed by facial oil when I fancy it.
