Do these outfits work?

I’m going to a work conference next week. Day 1 will consist of meetings in the morning, a site tour, and then an all-day meeting with my manager, their boss, and 2 of my peers. Meeting everyone for the first time. We’re also going out after work.

Day 2 will consist of us plus the rest of the team including everyone I manage and other senior staff. I am presenting during the day and hosting.

day 1 outfit idea:
Blazer
Boots
Along with cream trousers tucked into the boots and a white blouse.

my day 2 outfit idea:
Blazer
Trousers
Shoes (inspired by the model in previous link)
A blouse with a similar neckline to this (not same item)

any thoughts? I want to wear things I’m familiar with and feel comfortable in, but with a slight change from my usual attire.

A longer skirt with knee boots could work for day 1 but totally with everyone else, cream trousers tucked into knee boots is going to look bizarre.
day 2 the blazer and trousers look to be completely different colours (navy is one of the hardest to match) and silver shoes doesn’t shout professional to me.
to be honest I think you are trying too hard- keep it simple & let your personality/work shine rather than being remembered for “that woman who turned up wearing the weird stuff“

I really loathe white and cream together. Is spending the day worrying about getting it dirty. I like the boots and I think they'd look great with a dress or skirt rather than trousers.

I feel like day 1 is giving horseriding vibes. Maybe dark trousers rather than cream, or different shoes instead of the long boots. Day 2 sounds fine.

This day 1 is very much horse riding vibes. Cream jodhpurs are the kinda classic colour so maybe ditch the cream colour.

Not RTFT but a sensible blazer, dress with ankle boots or knee high boots for day 1.

ForChicOpalBeaker · 19/02/2024 19:29

I would say flat shoes and something smart for your meeting

Gardendestroyedbymydog · 20/02/2024 19:06

I would go boring personally- depending on how formal, but the trouser suit with maybe slightly edgy blouse (not the halter neck one) and sensible shoes look, or trousers/jumper/blazer/sensible shoe type thing.
The only thing I would do to liven it up if I felt I really needed to is add a really funky necklace or something.
Tbh, I doubt anyone will particularly notice what you're wearing unless it's inappropriate/weird etc. so I'd play it safe, safe, safe.

TheSameClip · 20/02/2024 20:37

I like the second outfit. Androgynous but with fancy shoes and a slinky neckline on the blouse. Nice.

Not loving the first outfit. The jacket is gorgeous only if you’re slim and can pull off big, boxy jackets (I’m too booby for that). The boots and trouser combo sounds a bit pantomime. A general ‘no’ to cream trousers for a long day of work stuff.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 21/02/2024 14:59

The blazers are very masculine. I would go with a female cut.

the second days top is nice, maybe with a coloured jacket (red/pink etc).

Barney16 · 22/02/2024 07:11

I love the day one blazer but I'd wear it with black trousers. Infact I'd probably buy a black trouser suit and then the first jacket too and swop them out. Ankle boots or a chunky shoe, not knee boots.

Thanks. The stuff I’ve ordered will arrive today, if no good I’ll head to the shops. The top I have at home is high neck with my arms/back covered - it’s not the same halter neck one linked

By site tour, I just meant a visit of the venue - a big office with a couple of buildings outside.

I’ll revisit the day 1 outfit. Definitely want the blazer but am also considering wearing a long black dress instead for a day to night look. I also have long skirts - could look alright with a jumper. Black trousers - slim fit and wide leg.

Not sure of outfit combos personally. And sorry to say, I'd be careful of Massimo Dutti, some of their clothes are shit quality for the money.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 22/02/2024 09:20

This is much much better. Quality outfit, nice colour, can mix and match and will last. Nice enough to be different too.

If it's a site that involves the potential of being wet and or dirty, then frankly take Wellington's to wear whilst on site and into which you can tuck your trousers with impunity. But I agree with everyone else - tucking trousers into knee boots is going to look very odd. I'm picturing Cossacks.

White trousers - definite no.

Silver shoes no. And not the halter neck blouse either.

Or take site boots. If you're in architecture, project management etc then you should have site boots!

Trousers tucked into boots and silver shoes will mark you out as someone who doesn't 'get' the rules. If you're senior and secure, you can get away with breaking the rules. If you're hoping to climb the ladder it's probably best to play the game. You want people talking about you — your presentation, your confidence, your energy — and not your style choices.
