Just bought another 2 ruched sleeve blazers…

From M&S outlet - stunning hot pink and bright but light blue. I am short, so while I have one high quality wool blazer with bracelet length, majority of petite blazers are navy or black. And these are flattering bold colours that I could not find for ages.

But buyers remorse is kicking in - I have 5 of ruched sleeve blazers (black, beige, linen navy and now these two). Are they dated style now, would you think I have lost sense of fashion wearing these?

I love a ruched blazer but I'm no fashion expert. I'm quite short and find the ruched sleeve suits me better. They are great to dress up or down. As long as you like the look I don't think it matters what anyone else thinks x

Giraff3 · 17/02/2024 23:29

Not at all. I have the same ones in black, navy, grey houndstooth and tweed.
Im after a beige next lol

ReadyForSeason · 17/02/2024 23:42

See H&M @Giraff3 the one that comes in 3 colours, ÂŁ44 - excellent quality. The beige is very versatile.

I bought the beige one last summer and was worried it would look dated by this year, glad to hear others like them as I didn't see many being worn.

I have blazer envy.

If I wore one with my shoulders, I'd look like a man

Why? I've got broad shoulders, way broader than my hips and don't look like a man.

Sorry, I don't mean to hector, it does drive me slightly bonkers though. I guarantee that you won't look like a man in structured clothing because you have broad shoulders. I love to accentuate mine, it makes me feel quite powerful.

I saw a post yesterday because a woman was worrying about being 5' 8" and having size 7.5 feet and feeling like a 'giant'.

I'm taller with the same sized feet and 'massive' shoulders.

I am completely within the normal range. There's nothing extraordinary about my size or height.

I always wished there was!

Yes, I'm a 'bit' taller, a 'bit' broader and a 'bit' thinner than average, 'bit' bigger in the nose and a 'bit' squarer in the jaw, I certainly don't feel in any way masculine though.

It never ceases to amaze me how many ways women can feel insecure about their physicality.

And I really don't say this to be a dick, and I understand that women hear so much negative messaging. I get it.

But we don't have to listen. We don't.

Gawd the number of people that have told me I look 'manly' is probably equal to the number of people who have told me I look beautiful.

I like myself though. The rest is just bloody noise.

I mean maybe part of the problem is people saying they can “always tell” when someone is trans and then several of my definitely not trans friends with broad shoulders and strong noses have received heckling and abuse from people who’ve decided they must be trans.

Well that's up to them isn't it?

As a natal woman who's
often seen as 'a bit manly'

I don't pay any attention to people who put store by such things.

No-one's ever thought I'm trans.

I often wear suits and waistcoats.

I had a phase of dressing like Radclyffe Hall and smoking a pipe in my 20s. It was obviously a terrible affectation.

But I was always seen as a woman trying on different clothes.

Clothes do not maketh the woman.

Fucking hell sorry OP.
My flippant comment wasn't meant to cause this. It was a cack-handed compliment. I'd love to wear a blazer but they don't suit me. If they suit you, then embrace the lot of them!

Betsylee · 18/02/2024 19:30

I really like these jackets and am envious, I saw them in the sale in the stores but never the right size sadly.
Wear them and enjoy them, all the stuff about being out of fashion is to make us buy more!

Precipice · 18/02/2024 19:33

I don't like ruched sleeves and have therefore never worn them; if you like them, they are of course still fine to wear. If you like them and they're going to get used, it's all good.

pudseypie · 18/02/2024 19:34

I'm a bit late to the blazer party having just bought a black double breasted one for work, but would love a ruched sleeve one. I've seen a lovely pale pink one at H&M. What are you all wearing them with? Trousers and jeans or dresses as well?

ReadyForSeason · 18/02/2024 22:27

@pudseypie I wear them with everything to work - slim leg jeans, straight leg trousers, slip bias cut skirt and and pleated skirts in the summer. Love colour blocking when bottoms amd cami same colour and blazer in contrast colour on top. Unfastened, same colour underneath make me look taller. Saw a woman on a plane wearing one with leather Leggins and white trainers.

Can anyone share links to these? I think I need to jump on the blazer bandwagon
