Under-eye puffiness and dark circles

I'm turning 40 this year and I have started to notice dark circles and puffiness under my eyes that I think is ageing me massively at the moment. I'm lucky that the rest of my skin looks good, very few fine lines or wrinkles, but the dark circles and puffiness mean I always look tired lately and I don't feel like I look nice even when the rest of my face has a nice healthy glow.

I've tried caffeine under eye serum from the Ordinary which had really good reviews but I don't think it's making any difference.

Can anyone recommend me

  1. An eye cream that actually works
  2. A really good under eye concealer?
  3. Any other tips/products that might help

I know that getting more sleep might be the obvious solution but I have two kids with SEN and I'm also on meds that cause insomnia so no chance of that!

Hiya - I am puffy too.

Honestly if you're puffy then it depends on the cause of it, in my case it's genetic and the only thing that would help me is surgery but i'm not that bothered about it yet.

  • Look at your diet (boring i know) but salt intake and things like that are worth reducing if you think that might be a problem.
  • Water intake - up it if you dont' drink much.
  • Look at your sleep quality.

With those out of the way...

  • Eye creams can be good but i've never found one ever that makes a true difference. Caffeine can help but honestly I just think that there is only so much topicals can actually do. Get a good quality well reviewed eye cream and call it square in my opinion. You can get creams that colour correct somewhat and add some shimmer under your eyes but honestly the difference is negligible for puffiness, for darkness you will probably see an improvement.
  • Massage can help a lot - so you can get the glass orbs on amazon and that can help. Keep them in the fridge and do mini massages (see lisa eldridges channel for advice on this).
  • Under eye corrector for darkness is a good idea, it goes under concealer. Bobbi Brown and NARS are the best ones i've found.
  • My favourite concealer is nars pure radiant concealer and i've repurchased so many times, it's very good.

That's sort of all the advice I can give you unfortunately. Tula do some nice cooling eye sticks which you can buy from space nk but again for me they're kinda negligible but they feel nice and help with massage. I don't use mine much really though.

Thank you! Will give the NARS concealer a go. My sleep quality is shit, partly due to the kids waking early and partly due to my meds causing insomnia, but I need the meds to function so there's not much I can do about that. I definitely don't drink enough water, especially when I'm at work, so that's something I can try to address.

Yeah try it, it helps me but anything topical is really only so effective.

Under eye filler is an option but I'm not a candidate because I have fat pads under my eyes and filler will make them worse. Go to someone REPUTABLE who will say no to you if they don't think you're a good candidate for it, don't go to anyone who is happy to just fill anyone.

I see a nurse prescriber for mine, there are tons of people who just don't care about what's right/wrong. Filler may improve things but try the stuff i suggested first. Exercise can help too because it improves circulation.

I noticed that tiny bit of Botox slightly blow crow’s feet help a little with my sunk yet puffy under eyes.
im getting Platelet Rich Plasma treatment in couple weeks which meant to help for dark under eyes and wrinkles 🤞🏻
