K18 for damaged hair? Any good?

My hair was destroyed by bleaching a few months ago (at a salon Angry)

I'm considering investing in some K18 so would love some real life feedback. Has anyone tried it?

Hopeful bump?

I'm on my second bottle, really pleased with it but I know it's not the same for everyone and some have horrible experiences (those seem to get on better with Living Proof triple bond, for the most part). So ignore the magical restoration of your hair marketing, like any other bonding marketed product it is essentially a protein treatment. If you've had bad experiences in the past with products with a lot of proteins (usually marketed as restoring/repairing) and ended up with straw like hair instead, this isn't for you.

Also, you can buy k18 in tiny tubes to try, should give you 2-3 washes depending on how much hair you've got. Less is more with this product.

I loved it for the first few months, but it left my hair really dry and damaged. My hairdresser asked what I'd been doing as my hair was so bad. I got a decent cut and never used it again. The Blow-dry Professor wasn't particularly complimentary on K18.

I've been using Living Proof Triple Bond Repair, and whilst it's still very good, I'm not getting the results I did when I first started using it. Aveda Botanical repair is also very good.

It made my hair feel craggy and horrible.

I’ve just used it for second time, and quite impressed. I watched a video on YouTube, can’t remember the name, who explained how to use. She reckoned that although it’s a leave in product some people may need to use conditioner and rinse after the 4 minute activation period. I didn’t need to do this as my hair wasn’t tangled.

l’ve got some damage from bleaching a year ago, and I think my hair was looking very fluffy. Definitely looks much better today. I will wait a little longer before declaring a success though. I’ve tried loads of things over the years with quite good initial results, to end in disappointment

Abbey Yung is YouTuber I looked at.

Well let me tell you, I did second application last night and my hair is looking so much nicer today. Feels nice and soft and looking less pouffy. Fingers crossed this continues!

It’s recommended that you do four to six consecutive applications, then move to applying once every few weeks, depending on what your hair needs

My hairdresser uses K18 on me and it does make a difference. Previously she used olaplex which gave similar results. At home I use the Redken acidic bonding system (I had a similar bad experience to you at a different hairdressers). I find this the most effective. My hair feels like it did before the ‘incident’.

It’s brilliant. But you use it up to six times when first starting using, ie six washes, don’t condition, only use a couple of pumps, rub it together in your hands till it emulsifies, ie turns white.

After this use it every third shampoo. so two normal shampoos, with conditioner, then the third no conditioner then k18. Wait 4 mins after application before applying other products or styling.

my daughter applies a leave in conditioner, after she uses it, so if your hair really needs conditioner do that shen using it, I don’t bother, but it does bring the strength back. You just need to use it correctly.

I prefer olaplex no3 for results which are immediate. I’m not really sure if K18 is doing anything to my hair, have used it a good 6 times in a row now as directed.

I followed the instructions and it didn't work for me. That's why the product is a bit marmite. Same as Olaplex 3, which works really well on my hair, but others hate it. Just because it works well for you, don't assume it works for everyone.
