Can I wear This to a wedding in April? It's at a house with fancy gardens.

Love it

It looks a bit baggy on the model, a snugger fit would be better

RunnyPaint · 14/02/2024 07:17

I'm suspicious about the cut. If they refuse to show pictures of it on the model without her arms folded across her middle, then there is probably something odd going on. Try it, but don't pin your hopes on it. The expensive polyester aspect would also put me off, obviously.

A cheaper but similar alternative would be this Coast dress

That dress appears so often on here. John Lewis stock it but they say it's from Urban Touch.

It's all subjective but I really dislike it. The OP's choice is much nicer.

It's a lovely dress, but I would never pay that full price for a polyester dress from Monsoon. If you wait a few weeks it may be reduced or at least you should be able to get 15-20% off.

I wouldn't pay £175 for it. That price takes it into the range of Palava for cotton, linen and tencel (which is a beautiful non synthetic fabric) dresses, made in the UK, some of which are lined.

They're maybe not to everyone's taste but on quality they're streets ahead of Monsoon.

I'm always really puzzled when people talk about polyester being sweat-inducing - especially since almost all exercise clothes are made from it. My particular sweat inducer is linen - the fabric of the devil! If you sweat in linen it gets really damp and then forms a nice little crease - or six - around whichever parts of your anatomy that are even slightly moist. The net result is that you look like a hot, sweaty bag of rags. And don't even get me started on linen that needs to be dry-cleaned! It's a lovely dress OP and don't worry - unless you are a complete sweaty Betty - you'll remain looking as cool, calm, collected - and most importantly - uncreased at the end of the event as you did at the beginning!

My experience with polyester is that it is not uncomfortable during a workout, but it starts to stink quite quickly. That doesn't matter if I'm wearing it for a run or whatever, as I can shower and change afterwards.

It is, however, uncomfortable and embarrassing to be stinky after the first hour at an all-day event.

I assume that's what other PPs find too, but I may be wrong about their reasons for avoiding polyester.

I think it’s quite wintery hence why they’ve paired it with boots. It will go in the sale soon as pretty much everything from monsoon does.
