Glass skin....

What is this trend is it good for you skin?

I noticed someone at work and their skin is soooo shiny across the forehead and cheeks it was like headlights glaring at you such was the reflection of light off the skin. It was really hard to look at that person if I'm honest cos all you see is light bouncing off their face you don't really see the features.

So I googled and discovered it's called glass skin. I'm wondering if putting all those creams etc on is healthy for your skin.

I have started swimming so I find the chlorine is drying my face so maybe I could use some of thes products to rehydrate my skin but not to achieve glass skin

Anyone do this? Or use Korean products they would recommend

There is a chap at work with this type of skin (he takes incredible care of his skin). He recommended Glow Recipe products. He uses lots of serums and dermarolls.
I am 50 and don't think I could achieve the same look!

I've done the whole ten step routine and and honestly my skin was no better than it is now (in fact it was worse) than with just using Tretinoin, a vitamin c serum, an spf and a basic moisturiser.
It's 'fun' and it did make my skin look v glowy but you also find that foundation tends to slip around on it and actually looks greasy. It also all adds up when there are simpler routines out there.
If you want to dip your toe in there is misha beauty water, try Cosrx products as well - not too expensive. Misha time revolution is meant to be a dupe of water lauder advanced night repair.

OK thanks, I think I'll get one product to see how it goes dehydrating my skin after swimming. I use nivea q10 anti wrinkle at the moment and I find that works for me obviously not that glass skin look but is hydrating enough. Might add some of those sheet masks.

I had one as a freebie once and whilst my face felt hydrated I looked greasy lol

The M&S Formula Radience Peel ( called Face Footner by someone on S&B Grin ) was the only thing I used that made me think "Ahh I now know why people say Glass Skin" )

Sadly discontinued and nothing comes close .

I love K beauty and it doesn’t have you be shiny don’t worry. I’d be wary of giving recommendations because it very much depends on what your skin problems are and how sensitive your skin is. I tend to buy from either Beauty and Seoul or Melon & Starfish.

They group products by your skin concern. To start with if you just get an oil cleanser, water based cleanser, sun cream and moisturiser. Sheet masks are a nice to have and the ones I like (Dr Jart+) are £5-7 just for one. They make you shiny, but I tend to use them before bed so when I wash my face in the morning, I’m not shiny anymore.

I tend to like Cosrx, Heimish and Klairs. The moisturiser below isn’t greasy and should be gentle enough for everybody.
