Minoxidil

Hi all
I've been prescribed minoxidil from doctor and have ordered at chemist however after reading up on it, I'm not sure I want to use it.
Has anyone used this and had any hair growth? I didn't realise it was a life long commitment as seemingly if you stop using it any new hair that has grown will fall out. Think it can also cause more hair loss initially and that scares me!
My hair is very thin and my scalp is very noticeable at the crown if my hair is down. I've started taking collagen, would I better giving this a few months to see if it helps? I also came off pill 6 months ago, not sure if that's made my hair worse and if it will grow in over time.
I'm not sure what to do next!

Thanks in advance

I’ve used all sorts of hair growth treatments including collagen, often at the same time so I’m not completely sure which is doing the trick but I’m fairly sure the minoxidil is the one that’s causing a substantial amount of new growth. I’ve been using it for over 9 months now and noticed a big difference in my receding hairline. It’s only fine baby hair and seems like it won’t progress much further but better than nothing. I did use it in the past and lost the new hair like you said but it has returned. I was told it causes new hair for a third of users, stops loss but doesn’t cause re growth for another third, and the final third see no difference so it’s probably worth a shot. Good luck.

I’m also using it and seeing good improvement. Haven’t noticed any negative issues.

If you're in the UK you can get it without prescription. It's available in boots/superdrug, brand name Regaine. The foam is a lot nicer to use for women than the lotion as that leaves a bit of grease. Assuming you're female, it's also more economical to get the men's version. Just ignore the advice of twice a day, for women once a day is enough.
