Home IPL laser, how long until hair regrowth slows?

Currently using this on my downstairs area but need to use it twice a week and shaving twice a week is agony to me.

I hate it. I'm using a new razor etc but my regrowth is so itchy and have so may lumps and bumps.

I don't usually shave unless it's a special occasion but thought if I can laser most of it away I'd be more inclined to keep up with the gardening 😂

Bumping for you

Why are you doing it twice a week? I am currently doing home lasering too but the instructions said once every two weeks.
I believe the results vary person to person but in my case, I saw noticeable decrease in hair growth after second use on my underarms, after third use on legs. Haven't attempted on personal areas yet but am tempted.

Because that's what the instructions say.

Weeks 1-4, 2 times a week.
Weeks 5-8, once a week.
Then once a month after for top up.

Hmm, the instructions on mine dont say twice a week, once a week for 12 weeks then as and when

At my age I dont need to do the garden, but the hair grows down the legs more so thats the area Ive targeted and I got great results after two applications

Legs, Ive used it maybe 4 times and now have minimum growth, so little that Ive not bothered at all since October, same with arm pits, now they do need to be treated again. Top lip I do blast every week

I have dark hair and am lily white on the body which is why Im getting great results there, face is usually tanned - Im an outside girl - so thats probably why the top lip is still fighting back

That's definitely what it says.

It's just an amazon on though so maybe if you've got a fancy one it's faster.

The reviews on this are really good though so I hope it works.

Mine is a use once a week one.

I think it took around 8 sessions to see a difference. I was starting to get frustrated that it wasn't working. From the point I could see a proper difference though tge reduction in hair was considerable.

I now do once a month on legs, bikini like, upper lip and underarms. It takes about half an hour and there are usually, literally just a few hairs to remove.

My upper lip took the longest to show a difference. I think because there are fair downy hsirs there too that don't really laser well. Every few months I do wax there to get rid of the fluff.

Can you link the product? It might just be a crap product with fake reviews.

I just wonder though, because you are doing this twice a week perhaps it's not having as much effect. The hair needs to be 1-2mm above skin when you do the lasering - perhaps yours is too short and it's not picking it up?
As for itchy bumpy regrowth - it's awful, I sympathise! You might have the same problem as me that when it gets itchy it's because the regrowing hair is stuck under the skin, in which case the light beam won't hit it. Try soaking a flannel in hot water and applying that to the skin, it steams open the pores and eases the itch a little.

But you're supposed to shave?? So how can the hair be 2mm above the skin if you shave right before hand?

I use ipl - the hair should be completely shaved, not 2mm above the skin. I love mine but it does take a month or two before any effects. Once you've done it for a few months you only need to do it once in a while to top it up.

What I will say is, don't expect total coverage. It reduces growth in a patchy way. So it's best for upper lip (with occasional plucking of the odd hair), legs, armpits, bikini line. If you're hoping for the whole pubic area to be bald, you'll have to keep up with shaving or waxing.

Mumoftwo1312 · 07/02/2024 11:44

It's not a laser, that might be way pp got confused. IPL isn't laser.

I'll persevere!

Does anyone know if you can epilate and use it?

I am thinking of chin hairs, I am getting more and more black ones, but mostly fair which are soft.

If I shave then the fair hairs are going to get a lot worse and ipl will not work on them!!

No.

The treatment kills the root.

If you epilate you pull the root out and your zapping nothing and the hair just grows back normally.

You have to shave and leave the root. Waxing, plucking and epilating remove the root.

Dahving doesn't make hairs grow back worseive shaved my mustache for years.

And if you're using an IPL, even if it was true, they wouldn't get the chance to get worse as you're zapping them away.

I recently bought the Braun IPL and I noticed a huge different after just 3 weeks using it once per week. For some reason is has proved a lot less effective on my under arms.

Bopk · 08/02/2024 13:36

I went to shave last night to do another round and noticed there's definitely a reduction already.

I have the same problem, lots of white hair but still a bunch of black ones popping through

My solution is a dermaplaning. I can target the small areas , whip them all away, use the IPL and then when the white ones pop back I just whip them off again. Most areas now I only have white hairs coming through so I use my spring from Avon, its a tightly coiled spring and you twizzle it along the area and it mimics threading or epilating. But you can target really small areas

megletthesecond · 08/02/2024 17:14

My lumea took about 4 months to get patchy then a year to get clear completely.
