This dress for a first date

Late afternoon drinks and food at an indoor street food place. Possibly staying out longer if it goes well 😬

Am trying to veer away from my go to tea dresses/skater dresses.

Am a size 14 hourglass. 5'4. Pale skin and copper hair. I suit jewel tones esp greens/blues. Piercings/slightly alternative style so was going to wear with fishnets and chunky boots (with a heel to boost my height) and a biker jacket. Lots of silver jewellery.

Sound ok?

I mean you obviously know your own style and it sounds like you've made your mind up..? It's fine, it's a nice outfit. I'd recommend flat chunky DMs though, with a heel would look try-hard IMO. Fishnets are fine if that's your style. I wouldn't wear a clingy midi to a first date at a street food market because I'd be worried about bloating round my tummy, I also favour skater dresses for this reason!

For this occasion I'd probably wear jeans and a nice jumper with chunky flat boots, or straight-legged leather trousers with a jumper or nice top and trainers. But that's me. You'll look dressy in the outfit you suggest, but not overdressed IMO (although again, flat boots 🤞)

Love it, and I absolutely would do fishnets.

The only thing I would be worried about is wearing a fitted dress to somewhere I’m likely to overindulge but I am very prone to bloat 😂

Thanks all.

Can't do bare legs in Feb 🥶

I get that it might seem OTT to some but it's very much me (styled down with jacket and boots etc). There is no way on earth I would ever go on a date in jeans, a jumper and flat boots as someone has suggested. I'm an overdresser and comfortable with that ☺.

I'm hoping the bloat won't be an issue as I'm not planning on eating loads. Am trying to get laid 🤣.

@Squeekachu I'm an overdresser and comfortable with that ☺

Why post then? ☺ There's no way on earth I'd go on a date in your suggested outfit, and I did acknowledge I was talking about me not you, so no need to be rude.

I think it's a bit flimsy for being outside. I think you will be really cold. Maybe stand outside in your outfit for an hour and see.

if you're twenty and don't feel the cold ignore me.

I'm an over dresser, quite happy with that also, but I would be dress, knee high boots and a lovely wool coat. (with a hat, gloves and scarf 😂)

It didn’t come over as rude to me.

@redboots765 It's not an outdoor venue. It's a nice indoor quite hipster-y place with different food stands and a bar etc. You have to book a table etc so not as casual as some are interpreting it to be. Plus we'll be going to nice bars after there.

Am not 20 🤣 but think a biker and a long sleeved dress will be fine! Will be 10° on Sat.

Oh, I was imagining the one in York, which is cold. Have fun.

HoHoHoliday · 07/02/2024 15:56

I much prefer the colour of the first dress (blue/green ish) you posted than the second two.
You don't need to tone down jewellery or piercings or any style - you just go out in your own style and be yourself. First dates are very much a "this is me" sort of thing.
Going by your description in the opening post I would be happy to date you 😊

PotentialplanB · 07/02/2024 16:00

It'll look gorgeous with your coppery hair and piercings! I might be pulled towards thickish opaques though to keep warm if you're going somewhere outside rather than a restaurant

PotentialplanB · 07/02/2024 16:01

Missed your last post! Sounds perfect with fishnets then!

ViciousCurrentBun · 07/02/2024 17:49

No to fishnets as will look overly busy, it’s a very nice dress and colours are lovely.

MotherofWomen · 07/02/2024 17:54

Sounds like a place near brick lane! If it is, great dress. If it’s not, it’s still a great dress! Wish I had the figure. Good luck getting laid OP 🤣

Anjea · 07/02/2024 17:58

Is it the one at Elephant and castle? You'll look great.

Keep us posted

Surgarblossom · 07/02/2024 18:06

Lovely dress

FindingMeno · 07/02/2024 18:46

I think that's gorgeous and I can imagine how much it will suit your style and hair colouring.

Dovewings · 07/02/2024 18:51

I love the dress!
