look that 'cant decide' pile right in the eye

hold up to mirror each garment in turn

ask 'will i wear this'
if unsure, re-ask 'will i be happy to wear this'
if still a-dither ask 'would you compliment yourself wearing this'
'if i got it as present would you be pleased?'

that should get rid of oh, at least two jumpers!

just go for it
spring re-birth n all that

sell give donate chuck recycle
go to it gal..

TaLcYonHerTodd · 23/03/2008 12:32

lol am sitting here avoiding the inevitable..

What do you do about specialist clothes...? I have big wool jumpers I haven't worn for years, but might wear, if we went somewhere very cold. Ditto skiing clothes, cycling clothes, gardening clothes, clothes to wear when painting, waterproofs -- I might only use these items once every other year but they are so handy to have just then.

TaLcYonHerTodd · 23/03/2008 12:44

Flack...that's exactly how i feel about all my clothes

They all have a purpose...potentially.

Oh crap, i'm, kidding myself.

Maybe you need to decide just how many things are reasonable to keep, and stick to it - one set of waterproofs, a couple of thick jumpers. For everyday things, maybe one top for every day of the week? Difficult one though.

DeeRiguer · 23/03/2008 15:01

if you havent worn it in the past two years (being generous here i did 18 months!) then you WONT wear it...
honest

keep something to decorate / garden in
sports gear if it fits
one big jumper
useful outdoor clothes

the rest must be what you want to wear...

TaLcYonHerTodd · 24/03/2008 13:52

Thanks all

Suggest you first work out what you need outfits for...work/school run/dog walking/theatre etc and how many of each type of outfit you need.

Then, decide on a colour palette for the whole lot. You could choose neutrals plus tones of one colour plus a contrast colour. The gap website has some handy videos about how to combine colours & patterns.

Think in outfits not individual items, and outfits need accessories and jewellery to be complete.

If you don't know what shapes suit your figure then book a store stylist to help you.

Are you getting new hair and make up too?!!

DeeRiguer · 24/03/2008 18:23

yes that's it! it is empowerment

look forward to seeing discarded garments
though will look at dungarees through my finger covered eyes

good for you it is liberating and time saving and cathartic
oh just keep going n ger it done!
