Teeth worse after wearing aligners?

I'm feeling really down about the results after having aligners to straighten my teeth. I had lovely white teeth before except for a couple of gaps which I was told would be easy to fix with aligners. My teeth are a bit straighter now but not fully. But my teeth are more yellow and it has made my teeth really weak (despite brushing etc). My front teeth have worn down a lot and have several chips, which I never suffered from before. I'm even more embarrassed about my teeth now than before.
The dentist said they can be whitened/have bonding at the end of treatment. But after initially being told it would be just 6 months, I now need another 6 months of refinements (which is also doubling the cost). Has anyone else found this? I don't know whether to continue with treatment in the hope it will be worth it in the end or cut my losses now in case they get any worse!

On the discolouration, that is normal enough and can be addressed with whitening. Are you eating or drinking with aligners in?

Where did the chips come from? That doesn't seem like a normal result.

The main thing I'd say is that extended treatment is normal, but they should NOT charge you more! Have you checked your original agreement? Mine was extended from 6 to 14 months at no cost whatsoever. It's unusual for them to charge you more

Is this with Invisalign? Unusual that it is taking such a lot longer than quoted for. Have they moved the teeth too quickly as can cause root shortening. I had mine whitened post treatment but the treatment didn’t make them yellow. I know lots of people who have had bonding at the end, they will I’m sure look good at the end.

I’m sorry to read this. I think I would cut my losses at this point and go to an orthodontist.
It’s not the first time I’ve read on my about disappointing results.
When I researched having a brace, the orthodontist advised against Invisalign as it would be likely to not give the results I was after and need a fixed brace at the end anyway.
Re yellow teeth, I buy bleach from my dentist at £10 a syringe, and use it with my night time retainers, maybe for 4/5 days every year or two to keep them white.

Taking longer is common, were you not warned about that? Me and my kids have all had Invisalign and all took 4-10 months longer than predicted with extra aligners needed. It didn’t increase the price though.

None of us had yellowing or any damage to teeth. Were you definitely brushing after all food/drink and taking them out to eat/drink anything other than water?

Yes, I definitely take them out to eat and drink. I grind my teeth and bite down quite hard and so as my teeth move with the aligners it's grinding in different places? I mentioned this to my dentist before, but it's getting worse.
I knew there could be refinements but everything seemed on track throughout the process, then suddenly got told it's another 6 months! I checked my contract and it says there is a charge for extra aligners. I just didn't expect there to be so many.
It's with clear correct not Invisalign if that makes a difference.

I have invisalign and mine have taken longer. Should have been 9 months but it's taken 14. I have opted for another set ( 7 trays so another 70 days). He did say it would only make a small amount of difference but I figured I've paid 3k so o want them as good as I can get. I've got a comprehensive package so mine are included. I did notice my teeth yellowed a bit but I drink wea coffee with mine in so it's my own fault.
