Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture shampoo stripped my hair? ☹️

Looking for some advice about why it could have done this.
Basically I’ve had long shiny hair for years, in really good condition despite all I did was wash with baby shampoo every two days and didn’t really use heat. My hair has always been greasy in case that relevant. Over the past year I’ve had some breakage slowly getting worse so I finally bought some conditioner a few months ago. Breakage increased so bought more products to try (that I’ve now realised all contain protein). Finally bought the Instant Moisture shampoo and conditioner on a recommendation. After first wash my hair felt a bit weird, realised the conditioner contained protein so just used the shampoo two days later. That was today and now it’s dry my hair feels awful ☹️. It’s really fluffy and the broken hairs look like frizz/are standing on end, it feels rough and it looks the shine has been completely stripped out.

I’m so sad. I bought it from a big reputable retailer so I don’t think it’s fake. But I don’t understand why a moisture shampoo has done this ☹️ does anyone know? And what can I buy to help as it seems like everything has protein in? I have coconut oil which I used to use very occasionally but as my hair is greasy does it need moisture not oil? Sorry for all the questions, just confused and sad

It’s probably all rough and sticking out/more noticeable just due to the absence of conditioner that normally weighs it down and smooths it.

Why do you get so much breakage, are you deficient in anything? Low vitamin D can cause dry hair that breaks and it can cause thinning, as can low ferritin, low B12/folate, low vitamin C and others. What is your diet like?

It could be that you've overdone the protein which causes hair to snap

I think the garnier hair masks are protein free or Matrix Biolage Hydrasource Conditioner is a really really rich protein free conditioner that you only need a tiny bit of

Yes you could be right, it feels worse the further down the hair I go. But the breakage near my head is sticking straight up and it looks really dull overall which is quite strange 🙈

I’m really not sure. I think it all started when I used a shampoo bar but that was ages ago now and doesn’t explain why some breakage is so high up. My diet is really good, lots of fruit and veg, I would guess maybe a bit low on fat as I only eat fish/shellfish and chicken (but eaten more meat recently). I also take creatine and protein but definitely don’t over do it. I get outside everyday but not always in sunlight so I guess vitamin D could be low. I’ve started taking a vitamin but will try to get a blood test
