Can anyone recommend an eyeshadow quad?

I’ve only recently started using eyeshadow and am looking for a quad of shadows for everyday use. I like warm browns, bronze or possibly copper tones so maybe something with two mattes and two shimmers? Definitely no more than four colours though. What are your favourites?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone recommend a satin finish taupe/brown palette?

I have loads of shimmer bronze eyeshadows but like something more neutral for daytime.

Find the matte ones a bit flat.

Dior is lovely but £££.

Charlotte Tilbury, Revlon, Chanel and some of the others test on animals which is so not needed these days.
I can link resources if anyone wants them, but just want to put it out there as something to take into consideration.

It's a 5 but Dior colours are great and so many alternatives.

Lisa Eldridge palettes have six shades but the combinations are beautiful, and have decent staying power.

The Beauty Bay Neutral palette is great for taupes and greiges. I have both the 42 pan and the 16 pan (below):

I used to work in the industry. If I had the money I would invest in a Suratt palette. They are super-high quality and very user-friendly. Their mattes are kind of satiny and their metallics aren’t too glittery. There are no weird textures or fall out, and they remain smooth and true to tone all day. You can buy palettes pre-made or choose your own tones. (Their browns, taupes and bronzes are just divine…)

Great suggestions everyone, thank you!

If you want to practice before you buy a high end one, the recommended ELF palettes are fantastic and perform way above their price point.

Invest in an eyeshadow primer and a couple of nice brushes too, as it will make any eyeshadow look better.

How light or dark is your complexion? I'm a light-medium and my most used quad is a build your own MAC one with Wedge, Soft Brown, Sable, and a slightly sheeny skin-tone one that the name has rubbed off but I think was called Arena. 217 brush. Can't go wrong.

I’m coveting a Tom Ford one at the moment but they’re soooo pricey!

If you were ever after a bigger palette with more colour choice I'd also highly recommend the Morphe palettes - they're fantastic value.

I’m pale like MAC NC20 but I’m unsure whether I’m cool or warm. I seem to favour cool blush but warm eyeshadows, is that weird?! Hair dark blond but it’s highlighted and grey/green eyes.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I’ve bought two Elf quads in Cream & Sugar and Love you a Latte.

I would love a Charlotte Tilbury one at some point. I had worried they were all a bit pink but the one a PP mentioned above, golden goddess, looks lovely.

can anyone recommend a cheaper dupe of the Charlotte Tilbury quads? I'm so tempted by them but was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a cheaper version, one that's similar in terms of feel and quality.

tennesseewhiskey1 · 05/02/2024 18:05

Sorry the VB one is not great at all - colour pay off and pigment is awful - I have the smoky eye one. Charlotte T is good - Huda Beauty do some
good ones too.

baubletits · 05/02/2024 18:44

Pricey but sous le sable from Tom Ford would be perfect. The quality is great, 2 mattes and 2 shimmers in warm Rosey bronze colour palette.

Suratt is amazing !! Well I’ve only tried them in the back of my hands in space nk but they are gorgeous aren’t they?
i would use either Estée Lauder quads - great long lasting shadows, great shade selection in the quads and they’re the only ones I’ve found that don’t irritate my eyes. Any Charlotte tilbury eye products burn my eyes! Must be something in them?
tom ford’s are beautiful too but didn’t have the staying power of the Estée Lauder shadows.
