At school I was one of those annoying girls who never got a spot. I have always had clear skin my entire life. Now suddenly since having my third child, aged 38, my skin is awful! I am getting spots all over my nose and cheeks and occasionally on the chin. But the cheeks and nose are continuous, and they are often pus filled too.
I've been to the docs who said it could be rosacea, I've been given an acid cream which is making no difference.
I'm not taking any hormones or anything, and currently no sign of peri-menopause.

I feel so down 😞 I already look old and haggard after having 3 kids who don't sleep but now I have acne with it!
I wear foundation most days now but a I'm starting to get fine lines so I find it ageing. I want to be able to go back to my make up free ways. Anyone any advice or suffered similar?

Thank you!

Tretinoin has changed my skin completely, sorted my hormonal acne and made me look much fresher. There are some really helpful Facebook groups with advice on the best way to start and create a routine.

Prior to starting Tret I took Pore Favour supplements for a while which did really help, they do a 2 month money back guarantee I think. But it was Tret that sorted it once and for all.

Thank you! Is that only available on prescription?

In theory yes, although you can buy it online without. Lots of people start with a custom blended formula from Skin and Me or Dermatica, or you can buy the tubes from online pharmacies.

I’d pay to see a dermatologist privately - best to get your skin properly diagnosed and treated. If not, see if your GP can refer you to NHS derm (this might take a while).

I’d also recommend dermatica or skin + me. Both will do an online consultation (filling in a form, you take and share photos), the dermatologist then reviews these and prescribes you a personalised formula. It cost around £25/month. Check out the website to see what they treat and before/after pics. I’ve used both in the past (for fine lines, not a new skin issue) and they’re both good.

This happened to me. I got some Soolantra cream from an online chemist. It made fuck all difference for about 6 weeks and then BAM! spots and rosacea redness cleared up. Have had clear skin again for a couple of years.

Occasionally I get the beginnings of a puss-ey spot around my nose and zap it with Soolantra on overnight and it’s gone by morning. Magical stuff.
