Going on an overnight spa break

I am taking my DD on an overnight spa break. Not really my thing so looking for tips on what to take, what to wear and also the etiquette so I don't make myself look silly!

Main advice is enjoy it!

They should give you a tour of facilities so feel free to ask questions (where are extra towels, demo of how locker works etc,)
The spas always tend to have water hot tea drinks (not coffee!) And light snack options like fruit bowl.

I normally arrive in comfy clothes (think travelling /gym clothes) as I just want to spend all day in the spa 😂

I like to bring:
Swimsuit
my own (clean) flipflops

Extra hairband
I'll bring a book, maybe music with headphones?

I might do a yoga class if there's one on but normally I'm all about the spa

If we do one of the deals that includes food and it's in the spa bar or cafe you normally just have food in your robe & slippers
Unless it's the hotels formal restaurant then I will bring a nice outfit....

Useful items might be something to scrape hair back, spare clips or bands. A spare costume if you want to be fully dry for a while, I take some nice face oil and some leave in hair mask for afterwards so you make the most of the benefits. A good book/magazine. You will likely get slippers but maybe some pool sliders or similar. You’ll also probably get a robe and a big towel- I use the big towel for in and out of steam room etc and then relax in the robe so it doesn’t get too wet. I also ask to swap for a dry towel quite a lot and nobody has ever said no! Just wear something comfortable- maybe joggers and a nice jumper/scarf. If you’ve got a lunch in the spa you can likely stay in your swimwear and robe.

Yes a lot of people wear bikinis no problem. Enjoy!

LlynTegid · 27/01/2024 07:07

There are bikinis and there are some that have very minimal coverage, suggest your DD does not wear the latter.

Surely spas vary? Why not ask them?

DD and I spent our time in swimsuits and the provided white robes and flip flops. Lunch in the restaurant in your white robe. You do start to feel like you're in an institution after a while!

Dinner was proper clothes but jeans and jumper vibe.
