I really dislike my marionette lines and nasolabial fold lines…and my lips! What tweaks would you suggest to help pls…as natural and subtle as possible. Awful pics attached for detail….I think the lines actually look worse in real life!

Thanks

They are not bad at all. You could get a little bit of filler, but it is expensive and a lot of maintenance. I think you could also use some color correcting products to lighten the shadows. I don’t think the lines look bad at all—you have picked an intense angle and are not moving. The picture is not what people see.

What are your teeth like?

If you need braces; get some as having your teeth fixed will make a huge difference to the shape of your face and remove some lines.

MotherofGorgons · 28/01/2024 06:02

I don't think any of them look bad. If I met you in IRL, I wouldn't notice. Your lips are absolutely fine. Honestly, don't go down the filler route. You don't need it.

Personally, I detest the current trend of women with perfectly lovely faces injecting themselves to look like film stars.

LadyWithLapdog · 28/01/2024 06:18

Don’t go down the filler route. As PP said, I’d look more at teeth, both to be in best shape for the years ahead, and because smiling makes marionette lines irrelevant, the focus is on the smile.

LadyWithLapdog · 28/01/2024 06:20

Even with fillers, unless heavily photoshopped and smoothened, the light still falls at angles on the face and looks like fillers.

Healthkick · 28/01/2024 06:22

Book a consultation at a highly recommended aesthetic place. My experience is the really good places give honest advice

They don't look bad. When you are thinking you don't like them you are taking a photo that you don't like. We all have photos taken at what we think are unflattering angles. You have to remember that in reality your face will be constantly moving. It's like watching the ball whilst a match is underway - you don't notice the stitching on it.

Well put.

Thanks all.
Im lucky I have really straight, white teeth - get loads of compliments on them. My upper lip has always protruded a little -
i remember someone even asking if i get filler due to this!

I feel so old though. It’s just happened after stress and rapid weight loss

Daytime pic - and awful enlarged pores.

Thinking of starting Tretinoin?

I don’t think they’re very noticeable at all. How old are you? Mine are much worse and quite sudden too for some reason.

Don't have Botox in that area. I did once and I could hardly drink a cup of tea for weeks as I couldn’t purse my lips at all. Even eating was a bit weird.

heyhohello · 28/01/2024 20:38

Bit of face powder or blurring cream will take away the large pores look. And the 'marionette line' shown in the pic will be moving about all the time in real life! You could work out a favourite expression for your 'resting face'. 😉

ElliesMum16 · 28/01/2024 20:50

You honestly just look like a normal person! If it's happened suddenly after weight loss maybe you just need to get used to your 'new' face?

LadyWithLapdog · 30/01/2024 07:55

I came across an interesting podcast about facial muscles etc. it’s called Cotofana Academy. On Spotify.

Augustus40 · 30/01/2024 09:21

I have stopped having fillers as too much maintenance. I have bought Elemis pro collagen super serum elixir. According to radio 4 many skin products are so good these days there is no need for skin aesthetics. I only bought yesterday so it is a wait and see!

Blossom4538 · 30/01/2024 23:54

Thank you all!

I have huge pores and lines but while I look longingly at those with smooth skin I remind myself that no one is looking. Tret and a dab decent make up and all is good. A friend had micro needling and that helped her worries about mouth lines. I think she looked great before but her skin did look brighter.
I look at my neighbour - she is gorgeous and 70s. She has pores and wrinkles and is full of life and laughter. Find your older life models and step away from unrealistic filtered pics.

IamFamousIam · 31/01/2024 00:28

Keep hydrated and use a good moisturiser

Mycatsarethebest · 31/01/2024 01:00

@Blossom4538 a small amount of filler in the lines will help plus a little bit on your cheekbones will lift the whole face. As my doc says it is like sticking a pole up underneath a curtain. 😂
