Beauty/make up makeovers

I'm mid-40s and have been wearing basically the same make up for about 15 years, with the exception of switching from foundation to tinted moisturiser.

I feel like I want a shake up. I don't often wear make up and I don't want to get into contouring or anything but I'm conscious I need to change the kind of eyeshadow I wear, and I don't know if I'm applying blush right....I worry my look is dated.

Where would people go to get some advice? I could book a makeup session at a department store but which counter? Estee Lauder? I've always liked their products. I feel too old for MAC and have heard mixed things about Charlotte Tilbury.

I don't mind paying for something. I'd appreciate advice!

trinnylondon.com/uk/match2me I'm early 50s and love Trinny products, skincare and makeup, enter your info into the Match2Me and the perfect skincare routine and makeup products are given to you based on your skin, hair and eye info, highly recommend.
Also the products are cream based so give your skin a glow, defo not cakey like powder and heavy foundations. Give it a go!

I know what you mean. I seem to have lost the ability to apply makeup. I’ve always gone for a pretty natural look but it’s just not working now I’m mid 40s for some reason.
I could do with a lesson, where someone makes me look amazing then shows me how to recreate it.

The woman who did my wedding makeup up does makeup classes. Not for qualifications but just to better your own techniques. I'm sure she won't be the only makeup artist who offers this. You could also watch some tutorials on YouTube.

I did a Bobbi brown lesson - the fee was redeemable against product.

If you look for MUAs local to you, a lot of them will come and do a personalised lesson.

There's also some good Instagram artists - Lisa Eldridge on YouTube is great!! Bobbi Brown counters usually do a more "natural" makeup look in my experience, so will explain where to place blush/concealer..lip colours etc.

If you're in the north west I'd be very happy to recommend a couple of people who I've been to in the past! Just send me a pm

I was idly applying eye make up just because……
I realised that shimmery powder shadow sat really badly on my eyelids ( i hadn’t worn make up for years and I’d bought some for going on holiday).
Primer does help but a loose powder works better than pressed for me.

Having a make up tutorial should stop you making potentially expensive mistakes..

Yes realising shimmery eye shadow sat really badly on my eyelids now was one of the things that made me realise i needed to change my products and possibly technique!

I'll look up MUAs
