Need advice about false tan

Have just bought some spray false tan for my body and face. Can I have some tips please? I'm wanting to use it as I'm due to get married soon. (Hubby to be is planning a surprise wedding!)

Exfoliate lots. Moisturise lots, especially on knees and ankles. Wear disposable rubber gloves incase you need to rub a bit in by hand. Or get a good friend round to help! have a 'dry run' a couple of weeks or more before the big day.

I like the way you call it 'false' tan. Like its a false moustache.

i personally if getting married would book to have someone spray tan me as such a risk to do it yourself on face arms and legs as can go patchy

its ok to experiment until you get it right but if for wedding i would not take the chance i would rather book to have someone do it for me

LOL! hadn't thought about it like that before! Fake tan! I have no idea when the wedding is, so am going to have to keep up with the maintence! Have bought some as pasty pale skin is not a good look with my dress!

Don't do what I did and do a rush job 10pm the night before the wedding (no idea how I managed to forget to do it before then!)

I had a big patchy bit on my heel - the only part of my body you could see!

I laughed it off though, but if you're a perfectionist...

Enough said?

Start off applying now. Mix the tan with equal part moisturiser for a really, really light tan. Do this a couple of times a week. Then when your colour starts to show, start slowly minimising the amount of moisturiser (but always blend tan with moisturiser around knees, elbows and heels).

Try not to exfoliate after you start with a tanning course as this can make the tan go patchy but definately do it before the first time you apply the tan.

p.s. How do you know about the wedding if its a suprise anyway

First of all, its best if you have time to practice with it before the wedding, so if you dont like the colour, or have any problems, there is time for it to fade - when is wedding?!

Best time to do this is evening, a few hours before you go to bed so you can waft around in loose clothes to let it dry and then sleep in it and let the tan develop (warning - it will probably mark the sheets and make them a bit smelly but it will wash off, dont worry).

Exfoliate all over first. Moisturise feet (soles too so you make sure you get right to the edges), knees, elbows and hands (and any other dry patches you might have) with some rich body lotion. Ensure rest of skin is properly dry.

Be careful of turning eyebrows and hairline orange (put a tiny bit of vaseline on them).

If you can, wear thin rubber gloves as some tans really cling to your palms and edges of nails, even if you wash them immediately after application.

Cover hair with showercap/towel and also protect/be careful of surrounding area where you are spraying - it will be a bugger if the spray gets in your white grout (I am assuming you will spray in the bathroom).

Spray away and rub in as necessary. Be a bit more generous with spray on lower back (be clear why in a minute).

Moisturise tops of feet, around ankles and knees and elbows again with a tiny bit of moisturiser.

Remove gloves, wipe inside of wrists over with wet (not dripping) soapy cotton wool pad
then pat the backs of your hands onto your lower back so they get a bit of a coating to blend in with arms.

Good luck !
