Please help my feet (and my marriage!) by sharing amaxing bed socks.

I'm seeking a pair that is very comfy, warm and also machine washable... any ideas?

I have Nordic socks but wouldn't recommend them as bed socks although they are nice enough for lounging in. They are a poly cotton mix and it's great marketing as the same ones are sold much cheaper on Amazon or Shein. You need a natural fibre for warmth and if cashmere don't walk in them, just use lying down or they disintegrate.

Normal socks with wool socks on top! Hate the feel of wool on my skin but the double layer works really well.

But I usually have to take them off at some point in the night because my feet get too hot 😂

I love my Nordics too (and wear them to bed). I bought them because I liked the colours and patterns but was half expecting them to be a bit of a gimmick (Facebook advert) so was pleasantly surprised when I got them and found out how cosy they are.

Get a hot water bottle. Absolute bliss. Feel the warmth soak into you!

If I don’t have that I wear Hotter bootie style slippers which are really thick and warm.

Love my bedsocks! My favourites are fleece lined made in Nepal ones that you can get on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122210750836?hash=item1c74541174:g:gbAAAOSwB09YG1sU&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4PZfRep4a72qgqhMau%2FWcz3GO43onLSyI%2FUYq4W5arkJyyQjxSRZYN7g0bGj2nbncnObEUSYHfwUcy1shKRgT6YVTQCEJ9v%2FNpTPdyCUsjlDChHAEl4KVWstYX9ovW%2BIH5nxOKfF4t8np98wpODI6KTamwtvlatess%2FJgeqKxOuDqTIM2Z6OVK2LlsemRzN6hOCK0uO7WgsqCZWiBzcG1yZI7%2BYxoDKw4MFw8kwqwkIkC%2FW1NuYGnirxXVmlsKrxa7DpGxUMX%2FUmVmsaE5noHCvlKHeZunJBGxpJa2CTJVhx%7Ctkp%3ABFBMip6yxaFj

I also like the biggest, chunkiest heat holders (I get men’s ones as they’re bigger). Cashmere are lovely but expensive and tend to go through if you walk around the house in them.

These are wonderful and warm.

Seconded

MrsTwatInAHat · 15/01/2024 09:05

I wash all my bedsocks on machine wool cycle, including the heat holders which are synthetic as it helps them not to go bobbly. They all wash well.

MotherOfHouseplants · 15/01/2024 09:06

I wasn’t terribly impressed with Nordic socks. They shrank despite careful washing and I had to give them to DD. Check the fabric composition as the ones they describe as ‘merino’ are only 37% wool, the rest synthetic.

FromMilanToMinsk1 · 15/01/2024 09:15

OK, I have a lot of socks. Bit of an expert 😀

I second the Pairs lambswool recommendation, I have all three colours and they're the perfect combo of warm, soft and slouchy. They're not 100% wool, but enough to get the benefits whilst also being durable.

Cashmere is wonderful, but as mentioned, can go into holes disappointingly quickly if you walk in them.

Also agree to do a belt and braces approach and have a hot water bottle as well. HWB plus Pairs socks is bliss in a cold night.
