Does anyone like bras with removable padding?

I've just had to de-scrunch another one of the daft things inside the cup of the bra I wanted to wear. I have a small pile of fallen-out pads at the bottom of my underwear drawer, having removed them from the washing machine filter or yanked them out in frustration.

Does anyone actually think they're a good idea?

I've not tried them. I've not been tempted to buy one because I don't need any padding, and the bras tend to look insubstantial without the pad.

I like the fact I can remove them. I don't like padding. So it gives me more bra options. They are awful left in though so I agree with you.

I stitch them in as I'm so fed up with them moving about.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 12/01/2024 15:23

Thats a good idea @terriblyangryattimes - stupid but I never thought of that!

Sort of a halfway house for women who want padding and women who don't want padding, isn't it? So that they can sell more bras. It would be better to make two lots of the same bra, with the padding and without, so neither group would end up with the slit in the cup.

But I'm certainly not going to buy any bra with padding, so I prefer removable padding to padded bras.

The padding is always so thin it seems more like a nipple disguise than a boob booster. I don't have the patience to sew them in though, so kudos to you @terriblyangryattimes!

I don’t see the point. If you want a padded bra buy a padded bra, otherwise buy unpadded. I imagine most have both.

Yes but I have had a mastectomy so wear a prosthesis on one side. The pocket for the padding means I can fix a prosthesis in the bra and the removable pads are useful for evening up the other side to match size and shape. They also give a smooth outline. You just have to remove them when machine washing a bra and hand wash the pads as needed.

These type of bras being on the market give me more choice of bras - so I don't have to buy exclusively from mastectomy bra companies which don't tend to have the same discounts as those designed for the mass market. Especially useful in terms of proper running bras which often aren't available from the mastectomy bra specialists.
