Vaseline around the eyes?

Hello there, I use tretinoin at night and after tretinoin I use cerave pm lotion as tretinoin dries my skin face. Yesterday night I used vaseline on top of the cerave pm and my undereye and crown's feet are very smooth and plump today. My lips too.
I would like to know if anyone has been using vaseline around the eyes long term and what are the results? I told my friends in the WhatsApp group ( we are all in our 40's) and most had replied vaseline can give me skin cancer?
I do use cerave am 50 spf every morning before going to work and i use antihelio la roche posay when im in the beach as my grandmother had skin cancer and im very worried about it.

Thank you.

It's this dermatologist

People typically use at night

Eva Fraser (facial exercise advocate) used to recommend nothing but Vaseline for the eye area at night. I use it sometimes.

I read that Marilyn Monroe used Vaseline to make her eyelashes grow.
Not sure how it would work?

I'm early 50s and I've used Vaseline on my eyes at night for about 15 years. I don't have any crows feet at all. For the last 10 years it's actually been the little green tin of Vaseline Lip Therapy (aloe vera) - this is only because I'd run out of normal Vaseline one night, and the tin was there. I found it wasn't as slippery so I just carried on using it!

I’ve used only Vaseline to remove eye makeup / mascara for over 30 years now and I’ve never had milia (I had to Google it) or any other eye / skin irritation. It’s fantastic stuff! Obviously I use the pure version, not any of the pink-tinted ones.

I used Vaseline around my eyes from my teens until my mid forties, am 52 now and genuinely have no wrinkles at all around my eyes. Everything else is migrating a bit south but I definitely put the lack of wrinkles down to the Vaseline.

I have really dry skin and I read about slugging with Vaseline and it has changed my skin for the better. There’s loads of info about it around, I think people hear petrolatum jelly and think it’s petrol which it isn’t and that’s where the skin cancer claims come from. But I love using it as my last layer of skincare.

@Alohapotato I have laughter lines and a few crows feet but not wrinkles as such. I've had the laughter lines for years. But I do laugh a lot 😊. I'm 52.

Vaseline works really well for my skin when I get dry patches

I wouldn't use it every day though and only when when my skin gets dry, sore or rough

My doctor told me to start using Vaseline on my face as I was having terrible skin issues and it cured the dryness almost immediately. She said it's completely safe to use long term (unlike some prescription creams).

I've been using vaseline around my eyes since I started this thread and I dont have any sign or irritation or milia.

I'm glad your doctor told you it's safe to use it always. I'm planning to use it forever too! J

Interesting read. I’ve used 50:50 Vaseline/liquid paraffin for many years as a protection against eczema round my eyes. I am 63, have no crows feet, but do get milia. I had no idea either of these was linked to Vaseline
