Good evening,

After spending years straightening my hair and using rubbish hair products I started embracing my wavy-relaxed curly hair and buying a better quality products.

I used to trim my hair every 12 weeks because it was very dry all the time and since I stopped using straighteners and applying good products my hair changed. Last time I trimmed my hair was in September and my next hair cut will be in Easter this year (first curly hair cut).

Products I currently use are:
Redken shampoo.
I use Moroccan oil. It's very expensive but what a difference! This product is so good.

I bought 3 curly creams: avocado curly cream by made of nature, one by Cantu and I also bought empowering creme and gel by Imbue. These products are okay. Not amazing but not bad.

I have been researching about good curly products. I found these with good reviews:

Curly cream by Moroccan oil
Boucleme super hold styler
Merware items
Innersense (I create hold and innersense cream whipped texturize)
Treluxe gel

Which ones do you recommend? I don't want to use curly cream and gel. As many products as I put on my hair more greasy it looks. I think I prefer a good one but strong to hold relaxed curls.

Thank you 😊 👍

My daughter, early twenties, does the curly girl method, and after spending a fortune on salon and high end "if you've got curly hair you need special products £££" she discovered by trial and error that the very best shampoo and conditioner/mask etc for her (tight ringlets almost) is good old Herbal Essences - the silicone and sulphate free ones. Cost about £3 each. She also rates Garnier Hair Food.

Previously, she'd used Kerastase, Cantu, Shea, Macadamia (the one you buy online, not the poundshop one - that was the best "expensive" one, but whilst deeply conditioning the curls, did nothing for the actual curl iyswim) etc.

There's also Laura at the hair lounge in Colne
I've seen a list of hairdressers somewhere, will hunt it out for you

Someone upthread said that they don't rate Noughty but it works well on my 3A hair. I have a Cantu cleansing shampoo which I use when the culs drop.

You really do need to try things out rather than get on recommendations

Amla oil is amazing for conditioning the hair. Hair oils, conditioners etc. with this in have helped. I went down a skincare / haircare rabbit hole over Xmas and found a company called arcade skincare. I was looking for something to use on the eczema on my hands and gave the shampoo bars a go. Perfect on my curly hair, doesn't weigh it down, stopped my itchy scalp and I didn't have to use a conditioner after. It was lovely and soft.
