Has anyone had a mole removed for vanity not health reasons?

I have 2 on my face and 1 on my chest which I really dislike - as I get older they look witchy and ugly. Would love to have them removed but no idea how to go about finding someone reputable who won’t rip me off.

I’ve had some removed privately. Would happily recommend the place I used but its not cheap. Whereabouts are you located?

Yes. Private doctor. Not remotely cheap, I remember returning to have the stitches taken out cost about £200!
But you get what you pay for, and it was on my face. Wasn't taking any risks there to save a few quid.

I had 2 removed and a skin tag. I went to a place that removes them with a laser. Was in and out in less than 20 mins, no stitches required. It was around £300. I've got another one I think I'll probably get removed at some point. It didn't hurt at all (she used numbing cream) and they all healed very well. It's just pink scarring now and that's been 5 months. It's called Ultra high frequency EM treatment if you can find anywhere in your area that does it.

Try GP first.

i have a couple on my face, absolutely don’t bother my but my mum would drag me to the GP regularly in an attempt to get them removed as she disliked them.

i’d be referred to plastics, who would decide that the scarring would be worse than the mole and send me home.

she’s had a few on her own face removed for cosmetic reasons. The last time she went the dr ignored the one she wanted doing and fussed over one that was less obvious. She was pissed off until the biopsy came back positive…

if they are changing or concerning you they do tend to be safe and remove them.

Thanks, I did wonder about the GP route but I know the NHS don’t do anything cosmetic and afaik that’s all this would be.

I had a mole on my face that I was self conscious about. I went to the gp who said they wouldn't do it because it was cosmetic. So I went to a private skin clinic and had an injection of local and they took it off with radio surgery. If you fill out a few online enquiry forms on the websites of places near you they can give you an idea of their prices. Mine was red for a couple of weeks and then very quickly you'd never know it had been there. I would recommend having it done, it's helped my confidence.

A rather large mole bloomed on my upper chest in the space of about a week a few years ago. It was in a place to get caught on zips, buttons, etc. It may have also startled the GP, as it did me, by its sudden blooming from nowhere, but it was harmless.

Anyway, the GP took care of it. He said it is a judgment call when harmless moles are for the NHS. This was, because it was in a place to get irritated. Not sure he would referred me onwards, however.

Yes, well mine was on my waistline so not usually visible although it was raised so I felt I could see it slightly under some clothes... it was also getting irritated by clothes. Private mole clinic on Harley Street. It was expensive for the super quick procedure that it was but my GP pretty much laughed at me when I asked about getting it removed on the NHS.
