My DP is arranging some lessons as I want to take about riding again after a long- time. Hope my ol` bones can handle the strain..lol.

Where can I get reasonable jodpurs, sweatshirts, gloves, boots, shirts and wellies. Online or shop ( I live in Midlands Shropshire so around there).

Many thanks for reading B x

Ooh, I'm jealous! It's about 6 years since I last rode and I really fancy getting back in the saddle.

Unless you have any saddleries locally, it's probably best to buy online or by mail order. The Tesco Direct catalogue has a basic range, or you could try the Ride Away or Robinsons websites/catalogues.

Enjoy!

TheHonEnid · 18/03/2008 11:47

CountessDracula · 18/03/2008 11:48

TheHonEnid · 18/03/2008 11:49

not much point buying specialist shirts and sweatshirts if not buying boots

you can get cheapy johd boots quite easily

cazboldy · 18/03/2008 11:51

I second robinsons on line, or derby house

brookeslay · 18/03/2008 12:40

Excellent thanks everyone lots of lovely advice there.

I`ll look @ all those suggestions and then add the websites to my favourites as he is buying too.!!

I probably get the basics then I can always add to the collection myself with some more swishy stuff.

Locally we have a shop called TFM, where DP buys his country shirts and moleskins. Not sure they have much of a girly section. Though I might be suprised we are going there to buy some clay traps I`ll just have to tag along.

I`m excited to Birdly you should start again if you really want to.

at dh who buys clay traps and moleskins

YET you would consider riding in wellies

brookeslay · 18/03/2008 12:58

He is a country lad born and bread dear HonEnid ...

I didnt want wellies for riding just in the yard. I dont mind mucking out.

I lived in built up London but used to ride my posh friends horse(she had two) in Sevenoaks and had lessons nr my fathers house in Hornchurch ..

My cousins and nieces own horses and some day so will I or at least 1 ( fingers crossed ).

buy long boots then you can use them for both

(am not boots obsessive honest)

brookeslay · 18/03/2008 13:12

Okay I believe You ( thousands wouldnt lol) Ill tell him to buy some long boots or at least give me the money for some.

I do think there is an ulterior motive with me wearing country attire I think He likes that Horsey look.

Win win situation I say !!!

yeah, old tesco do quite a bit. Robinsons hd some riding-looking welly-type boots for a very reasonable price recently

widgypog · 18/03/2008 21:00

err both I think. Tesco direct.com has it all but my local has it in store

pointedegg · 18/03/2008 21:00

You will probably find there's a horsey sort of place quite near you if you venture a little bit more country. There's a couple not that far from me

brookeslay · 19/03/2008 13:58

Thanks MaloryTowers we are popping to Ludlow later we can take a detour to find this place nr Much Wenlock do you know the name by any chance ?.

I got my riding vouchers today, feeling apprenhensive but I`m sure I will get into the swing of things.
