Apologies for the horrible picture. I’ve had these spots and they won’t go. They’re not whiteheads apart from one I have, and they’re on my cheeks, jaw, chin and nose. My face feels prickly as well in changing temps. I did have rosacea last year (diagnosed after many years of red face) and it went, stopped treatment and a few months later these have appeared. They’re on more one side of my face but a couple on other side too. Could it be rosacea acne again? What can I do to get rid of them? I will try anything now my confidence is at an all time low.

Do I mind me asking what age you are? Only because I'm 46 and am having similar trouble.🤗

Haveabreakhavea · 08/01/2024 22:10

I’m in my late thirties

It looks like perioral dermatitis (which I also have). If it is, the golden rule is never to put steroid cream on it. The best treatment is a 6 or 8 week course of antibiotics, but I haven't been able to get a gp to prescribe it and can't afford private treatment. I did manage to get a week of metronidazole (by telling the Superdrug online service I had bacterial vaginosis) which cleared it temporarily, but now it's back. I'm using fucidin cream on it but it's not very effective.

Have you recently taken steroids or used a steroid cream. I had Perorial dermatitis after oral steroids. Have a look into the this.

It took months to go I religiously used Lyonsleaf beauty balm as a cleanser and smeared my spots in sudacrem overnight.

I used weleda baby zinc cream in the day.

Hmmm, when I looked back on my pics, I noticed it started with me when I was about 41. ...I have 5 sisters, so thankfully, they were able to give me advice. They all seemed to go through this. Don't think it's menapose related, but it is to do with Ur body changing.

I haven’t used any steroids, I’ll look up that dermatitis I’ve never heard of it…

It is awful and humiliating at the same time. I remember saying to my hubby that my teenagers had better skin than me. But it should settle, either that or you LL find what works for you best.xx

Scarletttulips · 08/01/2024 22:18

It could be cold sores spreading g to your skin. Try some cold sore cream - it stings but it goes in days.

sprigatito · 08/01/2024 22:20

I've had PO for nearly a year and I wasn't using any steroids. I'm 46, I assumed it was another of perimenopause's bountiful gifts.

sprigatito · 08/01/2024 22:20

PD, sorry

RememberToSmile1980 · 08/01/2024 22:21

My skin is similar - with redness, which I've been told is not rosacea. Mine also feels itchy, and it's also affected my confidence. I have to wear make up at work to cover it up. But I'm also sick of it - mine started a few years ago and doesn't seem to go away.

Ginge2023 · 08/01/2024 22:22

Hi!

Try skin&me - I had very similar problems with my slim and the results were amazing ! Totally changed my skin for the better when nothing else ever either! I've been on it six months and feel so much more confident ☺️

Agree it looks like perioral dermatitis.

I’ve had it several times in the past 10 years or so, and in my experience the only thing that works is antibiotics. 8-12 weeks of Lymecycline.

What causes it though? I’ll go doctors and ask

See your GP it could be folliculitis. I needed an antibiotic to get rid of mine
