Just as the title really. Why is there nothing similar for women and has anyone tried the mens one?

No. You will grow a penis if you put it on your head 😂

(Yes. It’s fine. Just a colour deposit thing.)

C1N1C · 08/01/2024 20:08

Just as there's no difference between hand creams, face creams, body creams etc, theres no difference between men's and women's hair dyes etc.

It's all a scam.

MotherOfHouseplants · 08/01/2024 20:09

There is something similar for women. Wella make a ‘colour fresh mask’ which is a similar colour-depositing concept. I suppose it is the 2023 equivalent of the old sachets of Shaders and Toners.

Why does men's hair dye take 5 mins and women's 20 then?

MrsPerfect12 · 08/01/2024 20:12

John Freda do a shampoo. I tried it and it didn't work for me. Look at the reviews it works for some. X

CeeceeBloomingdale · 08/01/2024 20:15

Superdrug do a version, it's called colour effects

vipersnest1 · 08/01/2024 20:15

@superstar63, it also works on horses so it should be fine!
(A friend of mine had a black stallion who was getting on a bit so had a few white hairs - I used to laugh that it should be called Just for Stallions! I know that's pretty unbelievable, so I'm happy to post a redacted picture if needed.)

Just for men beard is brilliant on eyebrows BTW.

Did you never eat Yorkies either, op? 😂

Probably a number of reasons... men typically have shorter hair, so will need less time; just because they're the same doesn't mean there isn't a quality difference between brands (there will be bad male brands and good female brands and vice versa); men 'typically' have thinner hair Aith fewer products in, so dyes adhere easier...

Ok thanks

Apparently men’s hair is naturally less shiny than women’s which is why women’s hair dye can look odd on them.

I have no idea if that’s bull, but worth a go OP

JustForWomen · 08/01/2024 20:27

John Freida do a Defy Grey shampoo, conditioner and mousse...it works for me.

PainterInPeril · 08/01/2024 20:53

@AliciaTried I remember when the Yorkie bar first came up with "it's not for girls", I went straight out and bought one. Just out of defiance. I still don't know why they styled it as being "masculine" when it was named after a yappy little dog! Surely "Husky" would have been better?

coldcallerbaiter · 08/01/2024 21:01

The womens ones are probably more vibrant. The just for men ones are more natural colours like ashy browns, dull but natural.

Superdrug colour effects is good, and cheap. Irritatingly they have scaled the range of colours right back and no longer do my preferred shade.

11NigelTufnel · 09/01/2024 13:20

@PainterInPeril I always assumed it was named after Yorkshire. Whole new view of it now!

Yes, I have bought the warm brown I think it is called but a bit scared to use it as some reviews say it has very red tones.

OP posts:
hobbledyhoy · 09/01/2024 15:19

I had asked my hairdresser a similar question and apparently the difference is in the tone. So men's hair colour tends to be cooler/more blue tones whereas women's tend to have warmer tones in them.
When you see a man that has dyed hair and it's too warm, that's often why it looks a little odd.

PainterInPeril · 09/01/2024 17:58

@11NigelTufnel To be honest, it probably was named after the county. I was just trying to be funny! 😁

Chilicabbage · 09/01/2024 18:00

I would think that only difference is men often wash every day while women not? DH uses shampoo every day, I was 2x a week. Plus he isn't putting conditioner etc on which might not work with it?

reelcat · 10/01/2024 20:32

Plantur 39 do a good brown shampoo, works well on brown or dark blonde (although it says in the bottle not to use blonde hair)
