Gentle moisturiser not Cetaphil/Cerave

I’ve always had problems with my skin - breakout’s etc so have to be careful what I use.
i’ve been using Cetaphil for a while as it’s gentle yet really moisturising but I’ve noticed it’s causing me small bumps under the skin. Does anyone have any suggestions what others I could try without it costing a fortune?

I’ve used Cerave before but wasn’t overly keen.

Thanks

Do you need oil free ? I did.
I went to dermatologist and they said I was using wrong products completely and I was using the thick eczema creams.
He said to use bioderma sebium hydra- it's relatively cheap can order from boots and works. I had acne since aged 12 and now 42. Best product ever used - won't use anything else. Wash, moisturiser, peel, pores . . . They do a full range and it's all great. Best £ I spent that appointment 👍

Aveeno - my dermatologist told me to use the green top one

BaileysAllRound · 02/01/2024 08:12

I have very sensitive, reactive skin on my face and can't tolerate most moisturisers, even 'gentle' ones. The only one that I can use is Nivea crème in the blue pot.

I forgot the link

La Roche Posay Toleraine range. Or Cicaplast if you're looking for something richer.

3WildOnes · 02/01/2024 08:23

Avene do lovely moisturisers.

PuppyMonkey · 02/01/2024 08:26

Simple range does the job for me, I’m also allergic to everything under the sun skin wise.

stardust777 · 02/01/2024 16:28

Vanicream cleanser is very gentle.

It isn't heavy-duty though. I need to use a flannel with this one, or after using Bioderma micellar water.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/01/2024 18:23

Aveeno cream
I use the dry and sensitive one with a white lid

Mumaway · 02/01/2024 18:32

Roche posay and Eau D'avene were my go to when I had more sensitive skin. Luckily immunosuppression for illness has calmed my skin right down, so now I'm on Nivea!

Thanks all really helpful replies I shall take a look at them all.

@uncomfortablydumb53 the Aveeno one is it a face cream or is it just a general one?

Years ago when I was a teenager I saw a dermatologist as my skin was bad (acne) they recommended oil free moisturiser then which obviously I used for a good few years. However now I’m older my skin is nowhere near as bad so I’ve relaxed a bit with moisturisers but always been very careful. I’m not really sure if I’d need to consider oil free still or not. My skin is definitely dehydrated especially on my forehead, nose & some areas on my cheeks. It definitely needs something really moisturising but I don’t want anything heavy or is going to clog up my skin.

@Tinks15
I use the cream as it suits my skin( I'm 59) but have also used the Calm and restore Oat gel moisturiser which is a facial range but too light for me so this might well suit you
It's around £10 and well worth trying

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/01/2024 20:35

It's easily available in boots etc

Gentle moisturiser not Cetaphil/Cerave

Aveeno do both face and body creams

Tilllly · 02/01/2024 20:48

@uncomfortablydumb53

I got on well with that range but I have stuck with the basic green top range, for a fraction of the cost

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/01/2024 20:54

Same!
I buy the 100ml tube now for £6.50

Tonight1 · 02/01/2024 21:34

Lidl do a lovely very cheap moisturiser - it does contain organic olive oil however. But cheap as chips at under £3, absorbs very quickly.

ElinorDashwood68 · 02/01/2024 21:36

Avene or La Roche Posay

stardust777 · 02/01/2024 21:41

I like this gel moisturiser:

Byoma gel moisturiser

It's my summer go-to as it's so lightweight. I think not moisturising may make skin more oily.

WellWillWoll · 02/01/2024 21:56

My dermatologist told me to use La Roche posay. I use the cleanser too and they're really gentle on my eczema prone skin.
