I’m keen to know your experiences and if you have any recommendations in London.

my hair growth seems to have increased since I’ve hit my thirties, I even have hair on my cheeks now 😞I’m terrified of stubble and even more hair growth.

The only treatment that is guaranteed to remove hair for ever is electrolysis. Laser can be expensive and can take many treatments and then hair can come back (even if lighten and thinner). So if you are looking for permanent hair removal go to someone experienced with electrolysis.

Waxing at a salon is so quick , relatively cheap and the results are really good.

The longer you have it the hair grows back weaker and less of it .

I prefer it much better to electrolysis.

Threading is great

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 01/01/2024 06:11

Threading is painful !!

Threading is painful !!

Take paracetamol and ibuprofen first. It's so accurate and really makes eg eyebrows a good shape.

I had laser treatment. From Laser clinics Uk. It's worked really well. And much less painful than threading.

I had IPL about 7 years ago. Best thing I ever did. It wasn't in London, though.

I have lots of facial hair but all light coloured, bar a few dark wiry ones now I’m older, and I didn’t think laser worked on light hair- was yours dark or did the treatment work on light facial hair (really hoping it did as would love to do this)

Toddlerteaplease · 01/01/2024 08:05

It was dark hair.

Laser is OK but can't guarantee permanent and you need the right hair and skin tones.
After spending a lot of money I'd just succeeded in making them finer and paler so they didn't get killed by the laser.

Electrolysis works.

WeightoftheWorld · 01/01/2024 09:42

Ive meaning to get laser treatment on my face in the new year but Ive not looked into it loads. I can see people here saying it's electrolysis is better? I've never really even heard of that tbh will look into it. I do have fair skin and dark hair though which I know is 'best' for laser.

AnnaMagnani · 01/01/2024 09:45

Laser is great for legs, underarms, bikini.

Not so great for face (possibly unless you buy your own Lumea and are happy to do it forever)

I did have the perfect combo of pale skin, dark hair but hormones mean the facial hair keeps bloody growing back.

Legally only electrolysis can claim to do permanent hair removal.

Gazelda · 01/01/2024 09:53

I have electrolysis on my chin and upper lip.

It's taking a while to completely eradicate the hair, but it's definitely working. It's virtually painless. I pay £16 for a 10 min session every 3 weeks.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 01/01/2024 14:04

I gave up with electrolysis. I had it for absolutely forever.

Switched to waxing and it has definitely made the hair grow back weaker and slower.

Why is it better for the larger areas do you think?

I had IPL about 7 years ago on several areas, including my top lip. I haven't had to do a thing since. My friend had laser about 15 years ago and also never had to do anything since.

Not even electrolysis will guarantee permanent hair loss

The minute you stop going for treatment, the hair will return

I have PCOS so was given treatment under the NHS back in my 20's, it stayed away for a long time, but came back and by then the NHS stopped funding and I couldn't afford it

No hair removal will stop hair growth unless you keep up the treatments, even if it is only once or twice a year

Out of desperation I got a IPL last year, and it does do a good job, but again, you have to use it regularly . For me legs and pits is every three months, top lip and chin - well I zap that weekly cos a lot of hair there is white and wont die but I need to let the odd dark hair pop up to shave off and then zap, but its a lot less then it was, a lot lot less so Im happy enough

Pinkbonbon · 02/01/2024 01:47

Been wondering what to do too, mine is mostly white but it's so annoying when it comes to putting any make up on as it sticks to them and makes them obvious af.

I have a patch of wirey ones on one part of my chin though so I'm terrified to do anything when they might grow back like those :/

squashi · 02/01/2024 01:50

I have waxing every few weeks, which works for me. Bleaching in between if necessary. I tried electrolysis but it wasn't very successful.

Pinkbonbon · 02/01/2024 01:54

Does waxing cause you to have break outs at all?
