Do eyelash serums actually work?

Or are they scams?

Used one from Amazon years ago, def worked but I could not be arsed to continue the usage

Torganer · 30/12/2023 08:56

Yes, they work very well.

Magien · 30/12/2023 12:02

I saw a video from a dermatologist on IG (Whitney Bowe) which said that the lash serums work but they have the side effect of hollowing the under eye area as the chemicals reduce fat in the area. Apparently they were developed when some glaucoma eye drops made the patients eyelashes grow really thick but with the side effect of the eye socket hollowing.

I had brilliant results with Revitaliash. Tried switching to Rapidlash and much less so, so I've just switched back.

Karmakamelion · 30/12/2023 23:52

Uklash really works and it's much cheaper than most lash serums

MidnightMeltdown · 30/12/2023 23:58

Apparently they do, but many contain dangerous ingredients

I'm in the first week of using UKLash. My eyelashes were ruined by trying extensions in the summer. I think they've got to the best they're going to without help so decided to try this. Happy to report back in 6 weeks to update. My beautician suggested using coconut oil to help make them better but ended up buying the UKLash on a whim.

Slightly worried about pp hollow eye area as I feel mine are like that anyway so will keep an eye on any changes there.

I read on here that they do work but stop when you stop using it. Which makes sense if you're feeding the lash bulb vitamins etc, then stop giving the hair the best start (how I imagine it to be anyway!)

EveryOtherNameTaken · 31/12/2023 00:59

With Karmakamelion on thus. UK Lash is brilliant and cheaper.

They do work. Amazing, but you MUST use daily for 3 months.

Mine started to look thicker, fuller and longer around 2 months.

Jessiepaintyourpicture · 31/12/2023 01:03

Do your lashes fall out when you stop using the serum?

capabilityfrowns · 31/12/2023 01:52

I used lilash and it was brilliant but pricey

PinkArt · 31/12/2023 10:29

Technically yes @Jessiepaintyourpicture, but only in the way your lashes fall out anyway. If you stop using the serum, the longer lashes eventually fall out and are just replaced with your regular length ones.

BeckyWithTheGoodBear · 31/12/2023 10:35

Spectaculash worked very well for me and is hormone free so no side effects.

PanicAtTheLibrary · 31/12/2023 11:18

Yes. Revitalash is the best IMO but does contain prostaglandins, like most of them do, and apparently that ingredient can cause issues like hyperpigmentation along the lash line and loss of fat in the eye area. I've not had any problems myself and used it on and off for about 10 years.

There are lash serums without prostaglandins and which are peptide based - NYK1 gets very good reviews. I'm going to give it a try when I run out of my Revitalash.

Finlesswonder · 31/12/2023 14:45

I had heard about the frankly terrifying sounding eye related side effects. So you definitely don't risk getting these if you only use a peptide one?

I used UK Lash and developed darkening around my eyes and eyelids. Once I switched to Spectaculash, which is peptide based, the darkening resolved and I've had no side effects since.

Delassalle · 31/12/2023 19:19

Vaseline works and has worked for me for decades!

KingofCats · 31/12/2023 19:22

Revitaliash for me. I have very fine short straight eyelashes and it did work, and also made them grow curled up (like I’d had a lash lift)! But I couldn’t be arsed to keep it up eventually. It took around 6 weeks to see any different.

bestbefore · 31/12/2023 20:11

@Magien that's so interesting, my mum has glaucoma and has eyelashes on one eye which are really long and thick! Might well be that, I'll ask her, she's had drops for ages

Jewelanemone · 31/12/2023 20:20

Another one for Revitalash. I honestly can't believe the difference it's made to my previously short, straight lashes. Incredible. No side effects after almost a year's use.

SarahLHs · 31/12/2023 20:21

Yes I use UKlash. Cheaper than most others and has made my stubby lashes really long.

CanIPutTheTreeUpYet · 10/02/2024 09:43

Hey, I said I'd return to let you know how I got on.

Back again after using UKLash since the beginning of January. I still had short, patchy lashes after using lash extensions last summer. For me, UKLash has worked wonders. Especially with my outer lashes but I can't even see where my short gaps were, the whole lashes are a consistent length.

No side effects yet and sometimes I've forgot to use it a night here and a night there. Can also recommend the UKLash lengthening mascara. Doesn't get dry/clumpy so I'm not tempted to 'pick' it when I'm tired and it comes off clean in the shower. Instead of smudging, it just comes cleanly away.
