So Im 60 next year. I went through the menopause without the help of HRT so my facial skin is very delicate, its extremely dry and flakey, yet it has a dreadful shine and greasy areas. To top it all I have seborrheic Dermatitis which shows itself as scaly lumpy patches across the forehead and around nose and chin area - when it flares. Other then chin hair, fuck the menopause, 90% of the time my skin is pretty good, indeed I was told today I dont look anywhere near my age and have lovely skin lol ( Im a waitress so often have these type of convos )

So my so called beauty routine is Cleanse and Polish , the odd gentle facial scrub, a good slap of Nivea. I dont wear make up

But I used to. I never left the house without a full face up till my mid 20's. I did start again in my 40's with a mineral make up - Bare Minerals and lots of others, but I dont know. Cos of eye sight, I look in a magnifying mirror and I dont know if what I see is what people with 20/20 see. I see a ruddy mess. Last time I wore a full face, was to a wedding and as soon as we checked in to the hotel for the reception, I was in the bathroom cleaning it off

And cosmetics have moved on so far and I really dont know

Guess Im asking a lot of questions really. First is, is what I see with glasses and a magnifying mirror is what others see?

Is there a foundation out there which will "brighten and make radiant " this tired face without me looking like Ive plastered it on and every flaw maxed out?

I think Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser is excellent - lots of light reflection and good coverage without being a full foundation.

It isn’t cheap. I think Elf and no. 7 are good cheaper options but hopefully people will be along with suggestions

Magnifying mirror - no that is not what others see.

Most dermatologists will say mag mirrors are the worst invention as you see flaws that no one else will see. Get rid of it if you can.

L'Oréal true match serum foundation doesn't sit in my lines at all, I'd say it's medium coverage. I need a whole pile of moisturising things. One coat of Nivea would do nothing. Is your skin chucking out oil because it's too dry?

I'm the same age as you and wear tinted moisturiser rather than foundation. I've also subscribed to dermatica and have a tret and azelaic acid treatment. I don't have many skin concerns but I seemed to age suddenly whilst caring for my DMiL (RIP).

I feel my wrinkles are in remission and my skin tone has evened out.

I'm 63 and love eborian cc cream, just brought the bb in a sample one to try, and love that one too, it has a bit more coverage than the cc one.
