Foundation - like those ones in Facebook ads

They keep popping up on my feed. I’m wary of buying stuff based on these ads but wondered if there was an equivalent I can buy in the shops.
i don’t wear much make up and hate the cloggy feeling of foundation. I’m mid 50s and feel like treating myself

I'm not.sure what you mean a out ads. The ones that cover spots and all.the rest? If you hate foundation, you will hate those even if they do work.

I always think the best way to try foundation is via beauty counters with knowledgeable professionals who can help.you colour match.

I don't think I'd trust ones that came up in Facebook unless someone I knew personally recommended them.

If you hate foundation maybe a tinted moisturiser would be better for you? If it's supposed to be a treat there's no point getting anything you might hate the feel of.

You can buy a sample from eBay if you want to try a small amount of the ones you see being advertised.

But they still feel like foundation. You might want to try a bb or cc cream - eg the Erborian one is generally loved. Here is the small size. https://amzn.to/3RYVGSJ
It’s basically a tinted moisturiser and doesn’t feel heavy.

The ones that claim to match your shade exactly from a scan or selfie?

I tried the Dycpher one and it was hands down the worst match ever. Luckily their refund policy is brilliant but it was a still a nuisance to send it back.

Not tried Il Makiage because it looks to full-coverage for my preference.

So I'd say firmly in the 'too good to be true' camp. And at £40 there are dozens of foundations on the shelves for less.

I did the Il Makiage questionnaire and ordered a sample from eBay. It was too dark still, no surprise as in very pale, but it gave me an idea of the formulation. It wasn’t bad but not anything crazy. If you want to try a foundation I’d be inclined to go for a range with lots of colours and try on in person, eg No7 or Bobbi Brown. But it sounds like you don’t want a foundation? If you do, maybe try applying very lightly with a brush.

Makiage looked great in photos but awful in real life. So kind of pointless for most people.

I keep getting stuff for the Laura Geller 'baked' foundation which is easy enough to research, it's a well known brand.
At the grand age of 56 I recently watched my first ever You Tube tutorial on make up for mature skin. It recommended the Maybelline Instant anti-age perfector 4-in-1 glow thingy with the sponge on top. Absolutely amazing. Never had my skin look so good.
