Hot air brush? Revlon, Babyliss or Dyson?

Due to wanting to take better take of myself in 2024, I want to get a hot air brush. My hair is just over shoulder length and about medium thickness. I usually just blow dry it straight-ish as I never managed to learn how to use a big round brush to style it.

So looking for something to up my hair game, the options as I can tell are: the Dyson, the revlon one step and the babyliss.

The Dyson air wrap looks amazing but very expensive!

The Revlon is recommended all the time but there seems to be several models and I don't know which would be best?

The babyliss big hair looks good but also seems it might make my hair too stylised with curls which isn't my norm and not how I'd feel most comfortable.

I think I'd like something that I can use daily but also use to make it extra styled for a party or a wedding. Possibly like a toned down version of Kate Middleton's curly blow dry type.

Does anyone have one of these and love theirs and recommends it?

I've just upgraded my Revlon to the Shark Hot brush styler.

I've used it once and so far so good 😊 it was on offer and I got extra boots points too.

I sold my Dyson air wrap as my hair was so thick, the hot brush attachments kept warping and coming off every couple of months.

I love my Revlon one step

Rummikub · 30/12/2023 00:19

Ive just been looking at the recliner one step. What sort of styles can it do?

Having says that my fanciest style is straightening my hair.

I’ve gone off my Babyliss big hair. The bristles and speed aren’t what they were. My hair isn’t holding either. I am considering the shark flex style in their sale but it is a considered purchase at over £200.

Revlon One Step user here. Have had one for a few years and love it. It gives my short hair volume and bounce - like a professional blow dry.

Lunaballoon · 30/12/2023 09:04

I love my Revlon hot air brush. I’m useless at hair styling with a regular hair dryer and brush but a quick whizz through my shoulder length hair with the Revlon gives me a near salon finish every time.

Air wrap isn’t worth the money

WeRateSquirrels · 30/12/2023 09:17

I’ve tried all three and the air wrap is the only one I still have. The bristles on the big hair degrade very quickly and the Revlon was awful (very poor quality, gets too hot).

The Dyson is very expensive, particularly as I don’t use the curling barrels, but seeing as I still use it regularly and it hasn’t fried my hair, I’ll grudgingly say it was worth it.

bellocchild · 30/12/2023 09:19

I am never without my Babyliss rotating hot brush, but I use the smaller 32mm size because my hair is shortish. The bigger 40 and 50mm barrels are less effective.

Another vote for Revlon One Step. I love mine.

Gnomegnomegnome · 30/12/2023 09:37

I use the babyliss air style.

SoapyCoriander · 30/12/2023 09:39

I have the revlon and the Babyliss and prefer the revlon.

BoilingHotand50something · 30/12/2023 09:45

I have the Babylon’s non spinning Hydro Fusion. It’s the only thing I have ever managed to style my hair with. It looks to be very similar to the Air Style mentioned by a pp above but with slightly different attachments.

EffortlessDelegation · 30/12/2023 09:50

I have the Revlon and the Babyliss. Neither are great, the Revlon is easy to use but the finish is awful, very flyaway and fluffy, the Babyliss is easy to get tangled with but gives a much smoother finish. Neither is as good as a blowdryer and brush.

purdypuma · 30/12/2023 10:15

I have the Revlon & love it...much prefer it to the Babyliss that I had previously as the rotating brush tangled & pulled on my hair no end. You can also get additional styling attachments separately

I've had Babyliss Big Hair, several units, over the years. They get the best results for me but if only they would make a model with a more powerful motor and stronger, natural bristles.

I have this too but the plastic bristles never leave as smooth a finish as the Babyliss.

needsomesunshine65 · 30/12/2023 14:48

I tried borrowed a friends revlon and it made my hair all frizzy and puffy. I don't think it suits me.

I think I might get the babyliss rotating brush or the new shark hot air brush.

I got the Dyson for Christmas and for my hair (long, frizzy) it’s an absolute game changer and I was really worried about the cost if it wasn’t great - but it’s staying.

comfyshoes2022 · 30/12/2023 14:56

Dyson is amazing. To me, nothing else really compares - it blew my mind the first time I used it.
