Hi

I have read through the previously posted threads on this and I have tried all the suggestions without success.

My 10 year old dd is the height of an 11 year old and has a waist and hip measurement that corresponds to age 6. She is 99.8 centile for height but below 9th for weight. We have always struggled to buy clothing that fits and we have tried many many brands.
She prefers plain leggings or wide leg jeans but we have always had to compromise with them being too short or hanging off.
I have tried next skinny and longer length and adjustable waist and everything in between.

She has grown again and her clothing looks pretty rubbish because it just doesn't fit in the slightest.
She can cope with a bit of room or whatever it doesn't have to fit completely but there is a huge difference in length and size it's very noticeable.

I'm thinking we may have to get better quality clothes and adjust them or pay for them adjusting. I can do that and dd can easily adjust them if I can get her to be bothered but if I am going to pay someone to save me time and energy then I want the clothes to be comfortable and very good quality otherwise it feels like a waste of money.

I have looked online but not sure how I judge the quality of the clothes on there.
Can anyone recommend any brands for this?

Thanks all

French / European stuff? Their children are slimmer than British kids. La Redoute?

My DS has always been very thin, I do alter his clothes to take in trousers or tighten up elastic. It might be worth trying an alteration shop. It's hard when they are in children's sizes, Gap was good for slim trousers at the time.

Thank you both will be having a look and probably making some adjustments.

I’ve found sports brands work for DS1 (5’4” and an age 8 waist). Also, look at ladies size 4, maybe? DS is currently wearing ladies size 6 tracksuit bottoms (I’ve sent many pairs back but there are some out there!).

My only thought is this problem may soon resolve itself before you spend a fortune. We went for the short trousers fitting round waist look for years but aged 10 curved appear and age is now fitting her age clothes properly. I have even had to throw out things she had outgrown which I never did before (clothes would wear out first).

I was a similar shaped child (in the 1970s) dungarees worked pretty well and I think are currently fashionable enough? Wear leggings and a fitted top underneath.

Verbaudet
Gap slim fit (may find on eBay/vinted)
George does a long and extra long in limited stuff, hopefully plain leggings to order in, got some jersey stretchy school trousers.

Mine wore dresses of some description or shorts and tights an awful lot tbh.
