Saw some pics of the inevitable Next boring day sale queues in the press today and it struck me that I've never bought anything there. I'm 40 so probably their target demographic ? It's a store I'd never think to go in, these days, it's just not for me.

I guess I buy a lot of H&M, Cos, Uniqlo, Arket and Vinted for LF markey/ Ganni /
toast etc. Undies and thermals from M&S.

Just fashion ?

If not I will never ever pass the doors of either Hobby Craft or Claire's accessories!! EVER.

Noseyneeps · 28/12/2023 15:17

very curious where all you ultra stylish ladies are buying your clothes.

in my town there are hardly any clothes shops (next, primark, M&S, H&M) so for me it’s next for most things, M&S for underwear and tights, and primark for pjs. H&M is like a bloody jumble sale!

KeepScrapingBy · 28/12/2023 16:17

Off topic I know but “next boring day sale” made me laugh! 🤭

A local boutique where I go used to sell the odd vintage piece and I got a lovely Next floral top (black with colours in floral), I think either long sleeved or you could turn back cuffs abc make it three quarter sleeves.

There’s another boutique locally that sometimes has great things and sometimes not. It’s a question of looking through to see. There’s also one or two vintage shops which I like. With vintage items you really see the detail and they’re well made.

Zara. Never bought anything from the shop or online.

HerMammy · 28/12/2023 16:35

Have to laugh at the sneering at Next, do people realise Next sell 100s of brands now? With a turnover of £1b and having recently acquired the MN beloved Joules, they're hardly primark with delusions
I do however agree RI is overpriced crap.

Woahyeahyeahyeah · 28/12/2023 17:13

Zara! 🤢 I did around 10 years ago but their sizing is the absolute worst, the shops are so unfriendly and clinical too!

Britpopbaby · 28/12/2023 17:16

Next although I did get some Converse at an outlet.
Roman
Joe Browns
Lucy and Yak

To name but a few.

3luckystars · 28/12/2023 17:17

TK Max I just cannot stand that shop, it’s like a jumble sale.

3luckystars · 28/12/2023 17:17

I love Next!

Blumarine · 28/12/2023 17:21

I don’t shop at Uniqlo. The clothes are great but they have no stores north of Manchester, which means I have to order online. Then Uniqlo tries to rob me by not refunding my returns. Check out their TrustPilot, it’s an ongoing problem. You return £200 of clothes but thieves in the warehouse steal £170 of them and you only get a refund for one £30 item.

Yes it’s such a self conscious shopping experience, like everyone in it is trying too hard. The only thing I have ever bought from Zara is a going out bag.

Woahyeahyeahyeah · 28/12/2023 17:55

@Naptrappedmummy I once bought a scarf! But even then I felt I wasn't cool enough to buy it 😆

Polis · 28/12/2023 17:59

Next and M&S. Vanity sizing gone mad.

Easipeelerie · 28/12/2023 18:00

Next. I don’t understand it. Why is is there? Why is it so big? I don’t know anyone who goes there.
My sister used to get the Next catalogue as it had more petite clothes than the shop.

OutOfOrder67 · 28/12/2023 18:04

Uniqlo. I don’t get it. I don’t get the fuss.

lush can always, always get in the bin

Next is always a pass unless I’m buying school uniform online

temu is an absolute no, over my dead body. No way.

HerMammy · 28/12/2023 18:05

@Easipeelerie
As per my previous comment, Next stock 100s of brand names online now.

Because it sells loads of brands, far easier to have a Next account and buy it all from there, of course paying it off in full each month. I also get a VIP sale slot each time and buy the sale branded stuff.

Solymoly · 28/12/2023 18:08

M&S sell lots of brands now online, obviously seen Next doing well out of it.

TomAllenWife · 28/12/2023 18:11

I love Zara (more so in Spain) but our local one is fabulous, I can be in there for hours

River Island now has RI plastered over everything as if it's a luxury brand 😂 although I like their jeans

I don't get ASOS, it's too vast and I get bored.
I never shop in white stuff/boden/fatface or h

TomAllenWife · 28/12/2023 18:12

Oops posted too soo

TomAllenWife · 28/12/2023 18:12

Soon ffs 🤦🏼‍♀️

AllAroundMyCat · 28/12/2023 18:23

There are many that I don't buy from but I definitely don't buy from

Next ( unless a gift that was specified)
Any High Street fashion chain ( our town has no fashion outlets other than the very basic)
Primark
Pandora
H Samuel
Or any High Street jeweller
House of Fraser

TellySavalashairbrush · 28/12/2023 18:29

Zara and H&M - both remind me of jumble sale set ups.

JaceLancs · 28/12/2023 18:37

I don’t shop at next, matalan, primark, new look, Zara or H n M
most of my clothes are from tkmaxx, charity shops or designer outlets
I also buy on eBay and vinted
