Dyson airwrap for Hagrid style hair

So as the title suggests I have hair like Hagrid. Curly / wavy / frizzy / mad. Would the Dyson airwrap fix this? It looks great when I get a professional blow-dry but I can't manage that at home so either look like a scarecrow or wear it up. Id love to be swishy everyday though. Is it worth the investment?

I love my Airwrap. I do think it was worth it. I have very fine hair that is now in a chin length bob. I lost some of my hair a few months ago and it’s growing back in so I have a few short flyaway hairs. The Airwrap makes everything neat and smooth.
Plus people have asked me if I’ve been at the hairdresser this week - it was a month ago.

Thank you. I can imagine it's good for adding volume. But fighting against mad natural wave and frizz is more my issue. do you think it would help with that?

Yes my daughter has completely different hair from me. It’s wavy and thick and she has it nicely straightened with the Airwrap.

I have frizzy, not-straight-but-not-curly hair and I really love the Revlon One Step. It kind of blow dries to a smooth salon type bouncy finish. Plus i got it for £30 on sale so it might be worth a try before shelling out for the Dyson? My hair is shoulder length or thereabouts and it works really well on that. There's also a short hair version too.

Buy the Shark Flex Style for half the price. It's as good.

Jeffsmeffsmiff · 22/12/2023 15:29

Yea I was considering the Shark. Partly because I don't like the idea of lining James Dyson's pockets (can't stand the guy) but online reviews mostly seem to say that for frizz the Dyson is better than the Shark. Have you tried both?

Personally only used the Shark but my colleague has long Mediterranean wavy hair, very thick, and she has both (the original AirWrap rather than the latest generation). She says she uses the Shark more often, that's why I bought mine rather than the Dyson.

I will say no. My hair needs tension to dry smooth and I just couldn't achieve that wit the air wrap so I sold it. I tried so many different ways and just couldn't make it work for me

I love my airwrap, not the curling bit but the hard and soft brushes for straightening and the big round one for styling.

I have mid-length hair with a soft curl, so frizzy unless I dry it properly curly or straight. I just stick on some serum and use the hard brush every which way with my head tipped forward and it looks pretty decent, I then style with the round brush if I want it to look better.

It's expensive though, I think what makes the brushes effective is the bristles pivot so the air is always pointing down the shaft. If the shark does the same I'd go with that.

Jeffsmeffsmiff · 22/12/2023 21:35

Yeah it's the lack of tension that had me thinking it might not work. Gah.
