tell me about primers ...are they worth it?

I used to use Clarins beauty flash - is taht a primer? or are primers something different?

Yep i have beauty flash balm, but not sure if its a primer?
Have stopped using it now i use the primer, but only cause i wasnt sure.

Ohh, i have seen the brushes, now they are def going on my "to buy" list.

Had another makeover with smashbox 2 weeks ago - their spring colours. Not bought any make up yet, but do have a wish list!!!
