Brightening eye drops, concealer/brightener around the eye area, Combination foundation/powder base, Lash building mascara, blob of cream blusher, lipgloss and away you go!!

messagedeleted · 15/03/2008 15:41

NO NO
i disagree

a tinted moisutrise if scared fo foundation

mascara
lipstick or gloss

cream blush

binkleandflip · 15/03/2008 15:42

yes tinted moisturiser generally a good idea but probably not enough coverage for blemishes

messagedeleted · 15/03/2008 15:42

yes but psots are never proprerly overeed up are they
what is your skin like nemo?

Lulumama · 15/03/2008 15:43

powder foundation, collection 2000 do a decent enough 3 in 1 that costs #3.99

cream blush , rimmel or natural collection are cheap, easy to blend and bit more natural looking

lip gloss, barry m ones are cheap and good, choose one that is like your own lip colour or clear

the best mascara you can afford, as i find that mascara makes such a difference ... yves saint laurent for when i am lashing out, rimmel or max factor for budget days

Walnutshell · 15/03/2008 15:44

Clarins' Beauty Flash Balm is a great product applied on top of moisturiser and under base.

Try a foundation sample from Lilylolo - it's less than a couple of quid to get it posted out to you and lasts a few days. Very quick and easy to use, just swish on with a brush (preferably not while wearing your best clothes as it does fly about a bit).

Under eye concealers are good, Touche Eclat (Lancome) is around £21 but there are many other similar ones nowadays.

Nemoandthefishes · 15/03/2008 15:46

arghh foreign language...ermm skin is skin like..lol
not dry but not oily although i can get a little sweaty sometimes. dark skin under eyes

binkleandflip · 15/03/2008 15:46

the collection 2000 under eye concealer is actually suprisingly good and very cheap - I use it when my touche eclat runs out and could even be tempted to say it might be slighter better!!

binkleandflip · 15/03/2008 15:47

for dark circles under eyes you could try Benefits boing - its brilliant!

Walnutshell · 15/03/2008 15:48

collection 200 under-eye stuff, binkle - really? seeing as I'm on a budget nowadays, might try.

I see there is a flash balm/alternatives thread elsewhere on style, nemo, so you might want to check that out.

binkleandflip · 15/03/2008 15:52

really! I saw a recommendation for it in an article - one of those - spoil yourself/save type things. I think I got a shade lighter than I normally would (think it said to) and it just works really well and cost about £3 I think.

Worth a try

kd73 · 15/03/2008 15:58

I would suggest going to the Bodyshop and get them to advise on colours and how to apply. Tell them your budget and enjoy a free makeover with lesson!

maisiedaisy · 15/03/2008 16:01

Hello Nemo
I do not do 'make up' as such but everyday
I use concealer, a clinique one it is about £15 but lasts ages.

I use bronzing pearls on my cheeks (Avon do some) and I curl my eyelashes. Eye lash curlers are cheaper than some mascaras and much better IMO!

I sometimes use lip gloss but it makes me thirsty!?

Walnutshell · 15/03/2008 16:12

some eyelashes are resistant to curl!!!

thanks for the tip, binkle, £3 is more like it!

maisiedaisy · 15/03/2008 16:22

Really Walnutshell?
I didn't know that!

binkleandflip · 15/03/2008 16:24

Actually Walnut - have just checked - its £4.99 an absolute bargain and called Illuminating Touch. If you look it up there are lots of good reviews and recommendations for it

Walnutshell · 15/03/2008 16:36

Yep maisie, an unfortunate fact of life. I had a friend a terrible erect-lash problem.

Walnutshell · 15/03/2008 16:37

£4.99? seeing as how you deceived me, can you send the £1.99 difference?

binkleandflip · 15/03/2008 16:44

lol

BearMama · 15/03/2008 16:48

Before you put make up on give your skin a good scrub and moisturise - your makeup will look a lot better.

Walnutshell · 15/03/2008 17:22

We've put nemo off. She has realised that all this makeup lark is nonsense

Nemoandthefishes · 15/03/2008 17:32

OMG how do I know what colour to get??
all so confuddling..lol Had to escape into the realms of toddlerhood and major tidying to process the information.

Nemo - am feeling the need for a girlie night with wine (if I can drink!) and a bucket load of make up to try. Think your colouring is pretty similar to mine pale skin, dark hair (complete with spots, LOL!) and I don't do expensive make-up (as you can probably tell by the state of my face most days). Next time DH is away you can come over with or without DCs and we'll have a sleep over and try a few things, whaddya say? I owe you one (or several) for Monday night! x
