Do you have a little black dress?

Disenchanted · 15/03/2008 12:32

in china though, how much time do you have?

BearMama · 15/03/2008 12:37

Ooh are you thinking Holly Golightly? That's a good one.
There's always Morticia as well.

melsy · 15/03/2008 13:01

Yes Holly Golightly the scene at the beginning.

I have a shift , but its not boat necked. I also did have a long evening dress , sort of boat necked but in a clingy slinky fabric. NOt sure were is though.

OH those pearls are perfect, I have 3 weeks Disenchanted. Did u see how much shipping and insurance was, £23 !!!!

Might have to go to Primark me thinks.

The other idea was to go as a Geisha , but that could go horribly wrong and tacky.

I think this is the safest, as I can only end up just looking like someone in a black dress and pearls if not like the character that much.

The parties for a friend who works at the National and theyre all from the costume and wardobe dept , so wanted to look good.

Is there a theme to the party? Or just "Fancy Dress"

think Audrey is excellent idea (assuming you have the right hair for the "updo")

BearMama · 15/03/2008 13:17

Sorry didnt read your post properly - of course you said HG

What about Moll Flanders? (excuse to wear corset) or Dick Turpin?
Bride of Frankenstein? Bit more complex but will def impress if you can do it!

ooh moll flanders is good , but doesnt she have mad red curly hair , albeit the bbc version lol.

hmmm a cat , I did think that , but its all mainly pvc suit things isnt it????? Not sure Im that daring , would need serious drink as getting dressed!!!!

Bearmama Ive got long dark brown hair that could be backcombed and done up , with sisters help, I love that up do but think you need quite a lot of hair or some hair peices.

The theme is tv and film characters.

OP posts:
melsy · 15/03/2008 13:39

were do I start with moll flanders, in some she looks like a medieval wench, in other images she looks like an unkempt georgian character? Or am I just totaly wrong on both counts ????

I would LOVE someone to invite me to a party with film and tv characters, I would spend a fortune and hire a full on scarlett o'hara from Angels and Bermans

Angels v g if you anywhere near London and wanting to impress?

melsy · 15/03/2008 13:59

Angels is a fortune, Ive worn the dress from My fair lady for a shoot at my sisters college from there.

This fancy dress website is a bit cheaper it seems, havent worked out if these are hire or buy prices yet.

The cat suit is a size 12 and will be huge on me.

Im sure I saw it on ebay yesterday in an 8-10.

Im getting idea overload now.

too tarty and not that original??
