Do ANY boots go with wide legs?

Been wearing these a lot with trainers but would like to dress them up slightly, and wear warm socks! Everything I've tried looks frumpy and dated. Any ideas?

I thought you meant wide as in fat legs.

I don't wear them with smock tops any more either! What I was trying to say - clearly badly - is that maybe once you've seen a look come and go a couple of times, you've been exposed to different ways of wearing it, so you're less likely to be stuck with an image of its most recent reincarnation playing on repeat inside your head.

I feel like I look like I work in a circus, clown trousers with big flat feet sticking out the bottom, I feel and look ridiculous and frumpy, not for me. Wide legs looked great when low waisted with a crop top and a washboard stomach, those were the days.

Like a pp said i think what you're wearing on top makes a lot of difference to the frump level of what's going on at the bottom with wide leg trousers/jeans.

When kick flare jeans were in in the naughties i was skinny enough to wear them with tops tucked in (or 'bodys'. god love us) or crop tops and little short jackets. Flat shoes didn't look so frumpy if the top half was a bit more exciting.

These days i can't do crop tops or tops tucked in. The wide leg PLUS boring top look is pretty hard to pull off.

Totally agree.

Doc martens.

Oh the miss sixty kick flares! Yes. I wore them to work and, if i say so myself, looked bloody amazing! 😂The low rise, skinny thigh, pert bum and cart horse leg flares did something fantastic to my figure and balanced out my boobs in a way nothing else has since.

Sadly although the boobs are still there the flat tum and thigh gap's long gone!

I saw a young woman a couple of days ago in pretty much exactly what i was wearing in 2001 (miss sixty style cart horse flares, cropped fluffy jacket and long swishy hair) and she looked fab and i was v wistful.

This is a problem for me too, but i do find barrel leg, where the bottom hem is tapered, slightly easier than just wide leg where the bottom hem is triangular. Having said that, I don't have or want to own a wide range of boots, and neither of mine look right with either of these wide leg shapes. I may have a google for images of success in this area!

I'd like to know too, following with interest !

I'm 5ft 2 and wear wide trousers quite a lot for work. I find I need either a trainer (not chunky new Balance type though - more a tennis shoe - mine are Autry just as an example of style) or for a smarter look a pointed or almond toe. The toe shape is key if you're petite - anything rounded or chunky will make your legs look really stumpy! I'm wearing Hush Tallis for work (v narrow though) and Kendall (for going out) and both work pretty well with a wide leg.
