Am I searching in vain? Will nothing fit me yet? Am I just inherently the wrong shape?

I have one pair of maternity jeans that are still a half way decent fit, but that is it. Nothing else comes anywhere close and I'm sick of feeling vile.

I didn't put weight on my legs or arms, so I'm still about a 10 there. I have that awful pouch on my stomach though - and my hips have shot up to about a 14 .

I'm eating and exercising well so, fingers crossed, this will come off - but in the meantime - someone help, please!!

8 weeks is still very early.
i would sugest you continue to wear your maternity wear, if halfaway decent still, and wait a month before buying new stuff. that way, what you buy will be summer stuff, and you will be able to wear it for the rest of the summer, and hopefully find it too big towards the end of the summer
if you buy anything right now, it will be winter stuff, which should be too big for you come october.
skirts tend to be roomier and more forgiving than trousers. tty those?

Is it still early?

Have I just been brainwashed by all those stories of people coming out of hospital in their skinny jeans?

The skirts thing is a good idea - thanks. I'll try that.

they are the women who have the nice surgeons suck out the fat whilst they have them cut open, because tehy are to posh to push.
nine months on, nine months off

I ended up having to buy a cheap pair of trousers for the first couple of months as my maternity stuff was too big and my normal stuff too small. Treat yourself to a few low cost items to make you feel better until you are back in your normal stuff.

Tutter · 17/03/2008 12:51

i hated wearing maternity stuff post partum so bought myself a coup[le of bigger-than-usual troiusers

what size are you?

MamaG · 17/03/2008 12:54

Yes, do buy a few cheap bits to tide you over

8 weeks isn't a long time y'know

MrsBadger · 17/03/2008 12:56

have you still got the 'oh no I am getting bigger but can't face matwear yet' clothes from last year?

I stayed in those for quite a while

HaventSleptForAYear · 17/03/2008 19:32

Yes unfortunately I think you will find it is still quite early.

With Ds1 I was one of those (supposedly) sickening people who had lost ALL the weight by the time I got out of the hospital, (5 days post birth).

I then cried because I couldn't fit into any of my clothes at all. Took me probably a year for my hips to go back to normal size 8-10. Tops were too tight too, not just on the boobs (bf, but generally I seemed chunkier somehow too).

With DS2, I was determined not to slouch around in mat. clothes or track-suit bottoms and bought some clothes in a size 14 (sobbed again... blame the hormones.

Bought a load of bigger tops and a couple of jeans, but they only lasted me another month or so and then were too big.

V. hard to predict how long you'll need those bigger clothes for. A-line skirts are the best option, because if you're like me hips and thighs are bigger. You'll still be able to wear them when you slim down again.

I'd only invest in one cheapish pair of jeans to get you through, stick with skirts the rest of the time for going out (of the house I mean, am assuming you're not out on the town - or are you?
