I hate spending money on products to find that what I was already using was better, so should I treat myself?
I was looking at the Radiant Glow on the Go set.

Liz Earle is now (or certainly was) owned by Avon. That's why the brand expanded into make-up.
Avon sold the company to Boots.

It's a shame because I used Liz Earle for a long time and have found that some of their newer projects are hit and miss. For example their tinted sun cream with SPF has the same problem as the No7 one of having very warm undertones, and sits on top of the skin. It's not a good base for make up.

I've got a lot of CT products.

Some I really rate, others I wouldn't repurchase.

The skincare offering is pretty weak imho. The cleanser is ok but nothing special - not a patch on my Elemis balm. I don't like the magic cream but do like the night cream (but I have very dry skin - it's super rich so very much a marmite product) and the magic water cream for day use is good for me. The serum and face oil is are a waste of money.

In terms of make up I think the foundations are useless, especially if you have dry skin. That said I do like the flawless filter and wonder glow.

The mascaras are awful - smudge everywhere. Avoid.

A lot of stuff is nice but not "the best" such as the blushers (powder and cream) and eye pencils. Nars powder blushers are much better as is pretty much any cream blush.

Brow stuff is very "meh".

The good stuff:

  • lip pencils
  • powder (really fine it's brilliant) and bronzer/highlighter palate
  • lipsticks (but I disagree that pillow talk is universally flattering - it looks awful on me)
  • eyeshadows (powder/cream and the colour chameleon pencils)
  • under eye concealer and the corrector

Which CT concealer do you have as she seems to do 2 kinds

Thanks

I use the radiant concealer.

Laiste · 18/12/2023 13:12

Wasn't impressed with magic cream or the lipstick.

Liked the foundation, but can't remember which one it was!

I use the radiant concealer.

Thanks

I really rate the magic cream. It’s really good. All the make-up is nice but just not worth the price.

When I buy the small refill pot of magic cream, even the sales assistant seems embarrassed to be charging me the £60.

A lady complimented my eyeshadow the other day, it was CT. The irritation I was having has stopped now which is good.

Unfortunately, youngest DD has also discovered the joys of Flawless Filter and wants her own bottle. Hopefully I can get 20% off on the app 😁

I love the beautiful skin foundation, the cream bronzer and the lipstick. The lip blur lipstick does not last . Very disappointing but I have to say I love the pressed powder and the pillow talk eyeshadow quad.
all personal taste I suppose.

I’m sure I’ve posted this before but I used to work a 5-10 minute walk from the main Covent Garden shop, used to browse there a bit and bought some lipsticks, lipliner and eyeshadows. Nothing special and I don’t use them now. Someone bought me their Miracle Cream one year and though it’s nice enough it’s not nice enough that I’ll buy it again!

peonygrace · 24/12/2023 19:40

Agree with other posters- the revolution magic cream is a fantastic alternative and a fraction of the cost of CT!!

LightOfAThousandStars · 26/12/2023 23:17

Only ever tried the makeup and I like her lipsticks, you just have to know which colours will suit you. Blushers and the big powder bronzer is also nice. The flawless filter foundation is amazing on oily skin too.

I once went to buy the pillow talk lipstick, but it was one of those Matt ones, so I passed.

I much prefer Rimmel Asia to Pillow Talk

Some of her products are worth it imo. The ones I buy on repeat are:

Shimmer eyeshadow palettes
Brow Lift brow pencil
Airbrush Bronzer
Matte Revolution Lipsticks

Google the ingredients in the Magic Cream! It is mostly synthetic UV filters, some of which are known hormone disruptors. I went on a bit of a Google spree after seeing the "Elton, Darling" adverts constantly over Xmas, and was shocked to see some of the results.

The Magic Cream does have some nice ingredients in it, but it is completely bulked out with chemical sun-blocks so I decided to avoid it completely!

FrangipaniBlue · 16/01/2024 22:44

@MinnySkinge why is having a uv sun block a bad thing??

MinnySkinge · 17/01/2024 05:31

You misunderstand me. It is not the sun block that is bad. The choice of sunblock used is bad. Also, the sunblock has no other properties than to filter out UV. Just use a sunblock and save a lot of money. Each of the actives that hydrate etc. Are in there at much less than 1%. It's not- in my opinion - such a good product.
