February Wedding ,, I need help ,, I am a pathetic shopper !

Evening all ,, I am getting married in February next year, and I am struggling to find a dress that I actually like 😑
I am 51, 5'11" size 8, the dress needs to be long sleeved and I would like it to be full length, but midi would also be fine.
Because I am not a shopper, I have not got a clue about brands, I have spied a long Ralph Lauren dress that I like but I'm not blown away enough by it to buy it at full price. I will be keeping an eye on whether it comes into the sales in January.

I would love a dress in velvet , my favourite colour is navy or blue, I suit a wrap dress but nothing with too much flare in skirt. My other half is wearing a kilt.
I am throwing myself at your mercy, any brands that might suit that I wouldn't have a scooby about?

I highly recommend looking on Amazon at the KohKoh brand dresses. I own several and have found them to be extremely impressive quality at a lower price point. These are not your mass market disposable dresses, and the silhouettes remind me of the one you originally posted but didn’t like the price point of. I’ve found they even wash very well and hold up to years of wear if you’re looking for an investment. Their material is quite thick as well. (Just make sure you opt for “matte” if it gives you a choice between “navy” and “matte navy”.)

I own a KohKoh in navy (purchased for my brother in law’s wedding, where I played the piano), in black (purchased for a spectacular wedding I was a musician for), and in floral; a friend wore a maroon one as a mother of the bride dress at her daughter’s wedding (she is quite young and needed a non-standard, youthful MoB dress), another friend wore a violet one in her brother’s wedding (along with many other bridesmaids), and my Mom owns both a black and a navy, one for a formal concert and one for a funeral.

Toddles off to have a look, thank you

Could have been a winner winner chicken dinner, on Amazon at least it's not a thing in my size and the colour I want

this is lovely. They have loads of lovely silk velvet dresses. I adore their jumpsuits and think they would be gorgeous for a winter wedding.

I agree, really lovely, but it doesn't have a long sleeve, but thank you

LTS Tall Dark Purple Ring Detail Midi Dress | Long Tall Sally

Thank you for looking, as you can imagine I do shop in LTS sometimes, I can't do purple I'm afraid, and the quality of LTS now is rubbish tbh

Perhaps some options on Deadly is the female? This should bring up a search for navy dress - would link individual items but my mumsnet has a nasty habit of refreshing and losing my posts…

I have the Claudia dress in navy jersey (but a short sleeved version) and it’s a lovely flattering dress that you don’t have to style in a retro way if it’s not your cup of tea. Nice thick jersey too.

You searched for Blue navy - Deadly Is The Female

This from a well known German occasionwear brand but it’s £££

or, what about the Vampire’s Wife?

Saxendi · 10/12/2023 22:11

I'd just seen that Ghost velvet dress too, might be an idea!

What a fantastic dress, thank you, I however would look swamped in it, but I am going to try and find some images of different body types in it
