Going platinum blonde at 45- good idea?

Hello all,
I am a natural ashy blonde and have had my hair highlighted for years. However, I have recently noticed that the proportion of grey (and VERY white) hair is increasing at pace. It is particularly noticeable on the top and on the sides to the point where highlights will no longer be enough.
I am considering going platinum blonde so the whites can sort blend in and I would not have visible roots. I don't want to go down the full colouring route.
I understand that such a colour can drain away the colour from your face and that the hair will need lost of TLC. But I would welcome your input or and you experience of going platinum.
Thank you!

It depends how regularly you bleach it I suppose. For me it was the destroyer of hair and it was either stop or have no hair left. And it was time consuming, expensive and hard work. It was nice for a bit though.

Thank you. I guess the idea was to embrace the whites rather than bleach the whole head but I am not sure how that would work practically

Yes , this was what I did too
Switched to highlights then a silver grey toner to give a blended effect
I love it
Highlights leave the hair in better condition than all over bleach

I think half a head twice a year might work well. Just keep an eye on the condition. I'm cold turkey now 😩

Thank you all!

You could try it and see if your hair can take it. Is it generally strong and in good condition? I had to stop bleaching mine because after a year of highlights my hair was destroyed. It will also take a long time to grow out. I would experiment a bit more with toners first to see where that gets you first (if you are like me and want low maintenance).

How long is your hair? I think long, platinum hair can show the damage more, so would tend to go easy if it's long hair

I'm natural blonde too and not sure what my hair will do when I go grey! I'm not dyeing mine at the moment as I want to see what happens. These threads on grey hair strategies are always interesting to me!

dsis did just that. BUT her hair is in a choppy pixie, which also means regrow looks edgy rather than a black line, and she has it done in a salon. She always looks amazing and is well-known in her industry for her hair (you know X, the one with short, white hair) as much as her (extensive) expertise.

My hair is mid length, under shoulders. My hair is quite thick and normally quite healthy but I recently moved to somewhere very hot and it has become drier than it's ever been.
