Can I wear this to work?

Dreading my upcoming month at work. I have an important set of clients visiting my office, with the most senior person in my company & a board of directors in attendance. Office dress code is usually smart-casual though more smart for these visits.

I am not sure what to wear to make a good impression, as I have put on weight recently and feel anything that clings to my stomach or waist looks bad. I’m a petite size 12 Apple

What do you think of a dress like this, ie satin material, midi or maxi length. I would wear with opaque tights and maybe heeled boots. Could throw on a blazer or jacket on top, or a jumper if needed? Just feel it’s a more forgiving material on my arms/torso.

I actually think the first one looking at it from the side is beautiful and just based on the side view could be worn in an office. At least in mine, which is quite casual. But the front view especially in blue is a bit too informal. Maybe if you can really tighten it up with a belt?

I would be horrified if my counsel turned up in a satin slit robe to a meeting with me. Lovely outside the office but no, not for work. I would be wondering if they had just crawled out from a club and are they still pissed? I wouldn’t be paying for that advice!

Any industry that requires a dress like that for a board meeting is one I never want to understand.

@Tighginn I never said it required it - I just said that some women would wear that. There's zero dress code in our business, which means you get people wearing anything from jeans and t-shirts to people really dressing up.

Although it's a nice dress it's more suitable for an evening out unfortunately. In my work place it's expected that we wear business attire, skirt or trouser suit with an appropriate blouse. First impressions count and you want it to be the right one, remembered for your professionalism not the woman in the party dress
