In my 10yo dd. I can't get rid of it! Have bought every cream I can think of. Steroids made it worse. Using sls free toothpaste and it's helped a bit. She's not using any products or makeup. Short of taking her to a dermatologist I don't know what to do! It disappeared completely on our holiday to Spain this year. Any advice?

Could it be impetigo? You'd need antibiotics if it is.

NotMyDayJob · 04/12/2023 10:03

Have you been to the GP?

RaininSummer · 04/12/2023 10:09

My granddaughter suffered terribly with this until we worked out she was allergic to lactose and some other things. Doctors were pretty useless and did indeed prescribe for impetigo which it wasn't.

What has the GP said? Have you tried an antibiotic cream?

Stresa22 · 04/12/2023 10:13

This is probably something a pharmacist could help diagnose and then prescribe. One of our locals has enhanced training for skin complaints.

This isn't a beauty problem and you can't get it diagnosed online - ask if there's a GP in your practice who has done some dermatology.

One of mine went through a phase of that. In his case it was because he kept licking around his mouth, which then got dry in cold weather and then he licked it more and it got worse. I put savlon on it (partly so the taste would remind him not to lick it) and gave him some kids' lip balm to use on his lips if he felt like licking. It cleared up pretty fast after that
